Summary
Under direct supervision, perform a variety of laboring and unskilled to semi-skilled duties related to the operation and maintenance of treatment plants, transmission & distribution, and source of supply. Clean tools, truck, and worksite while on a job.
Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1. Place and connect pipe, hydrants, valves, and valve boxes.
2. Operates equipment such as utility trucks, pickup trucks, pavement breakers, skimmers, loaders, mowers, clay spades, and related equipment; places barricades.
3. Assists in the maintenance of equipment, drains, water pipes, ditches, sewers, and similar facilities; keeps tools, equipment, and work area in a clean and orderly condition; oils and greases machinery.
4. Carries-out the Department's safety program through job performance and attendance at scheduled safety meetings.
5. Preform related work as required.

The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multilimb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., 40 hours per week.
Required Education and Experience
1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. Minimum 1 year of related work experience.
3. Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities for the position.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)
