SUMMARY
The Manager, Controls Engineering has responsibility for systems optimization, compliance, personnel safety and technician skill development relative to plant electrical power and process control systems. In this role you will:
Serves as the primary administrator and direction setter for the plant control systems (FactoryTalk View, FactoryTalk Historian, ACP Thin Manager, PLC architecture, Network and motion controls)Owns plant Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) Key Element 3.10 Electrical Power & Safety, NFPA 70E and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.269 compliance for the plantServes as primary administrator and troubleshooter for plant control systems; is a key member of the plant technical leadership teamProvides support throughout other parts of the plant as needed on a daily basisBuilds and maintains sustainable process control systems onboarding for site’s Control Engineers, Process Engineers, Interns and Area Leaders, as well as, ongoing coaching and development of Process Engineers and InternsOwns the plant power outage recovery plan and emergency power generation planPrimary plant resource on Corporate power and controls standards and owns technical documentation for these systemsProvides expertise in the design and implementation of process automation applicationsWorks with Operations Teams to identify losses, and develop plans and strategies to eliminate them, in the areas of safety, quality, reliability and costProvides leadership for maintaining, testing, monitoring and improving electrical distribution systemsWorks with Engineering IS team to maintain and update plant Historical database standards and accuracy (FactoryTalk Historian and Proficy Historian)Works closely with Engineering and Operations leaders on selection and installation/start-up of new equipment; becomes the technical expert on new equipment and insures the training of others with regard to control systemsServes as Project Manager for Initiatives ranging from E&I focus to complete capital projectsRole model, both technically and from a leadership perspectiveThe Right Role for YouAre you motivated by the chance to help provide quality products consumers count on every day? What we’re looking for:
A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is requiredAt least 10 years of relevant control systems experience is requiredExtensive knowledge of Rockwell family of productsExperience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferredMechanical and electrical experience in the CPG or pharmaceutical industry is a plusExperience with SQMS PM Maintenance Systems (Proficy, Project Management, eAM)Strong troubleshooting skillsStrong knowledge of process control hardware, instrumentation and software including PLC platformsWorking knowledge of NFPA guidelinesUnderstands technical systems and terminologyExcellent inter-personal skillsExperience learning and integrating new technologiesExperience leading the installation of equipment in food manufacturing environmentStrong organizational, critical thinking and problem-solving skillsEffective presentation, verbal, and written communication skillsAbility to organize and prioritize actions to help meet plant objectives and long-term visionSelf-motivated and can work independently with minimal direct supervisionProven project management skillsExperience leading, teaching or managing others effectivelyAble to perform moderate activity including but not limited to, significant time spent on manufacturing floor and some physical work on equipmentSalary range = $110,000 to $160,000Learn More About Working at Smucker Our Total Rewards
