Job Description & Responsibilities
The Global Procurement Commodity Manager is responsible and accountable for providing strategic thought leadership for Supply Chain Procurement for our Global Procurement organization, business partners, and key stakeholders.
Responsibilities Include:
Responsible for the strategic sourcing of Transportation and Logistics services including warehousing, linehaul, intermodal, air, ocean and freight forwarding
Negotiating, and developing contracts with external suppliers
Provide leadership for multiple sourcing projects supporting Clients strategic business requirements
The delivery of bottom-line financial savings for intermediate to complex/strategic transactions along with terms and conditions that protect the interests of Client.
As the lead negotiator, responsible for developing partnerships with the relevant technology, business, and legal managers, gathering and development of project requirements, negotiating with suppliers to obtain best in class pricing, contract terms and conditions.
Developing and presenting recommendations to senior management based on research of the relevant transaction and suppliers.
Defining project goals and objectives, tracking and reporting on project status, proposal development, qualitative and quantitative analyses, preparation of proper supporting documentation for the transaction, and presenting findings and recommendations to management.
Identifies ongoing opportunities for continuous improvement across the supply base and remains current with industry trends and market pricing
Facilitates regular business reviews to cover systemic issues, improvement initiatives, sourcing process changes, and general relationship topics;
Comfortable working cross functionally and globally with varied levels of management to deliver business objectives
Qualifications
Bachelor or Masters Degree (preferred) in Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering, or other related fields.
Minimum 6 years experience in supply chain/logistics/transportation, relevant technical, purchasing or business work experience;
Shows a thorough understanding of standard contracting and negotiating procedures, with demonstrated strength in problem solving and facilitation;
Displays excellent interpersonal skills at all levels of contact and in a wide variety of situations;
Is at ease and effective in dealing with professionals and managers in other disciplines, including both internal and external departments or organizations;
Has excellent listening, verbal, oral presentation and written communications skills;
Thinks logically and focuses on key issues, demonstrating the ability to make, and take responsibility for, sound and far reaching decisions on major service provision issues.
