Temporary Instructional Technology Specialist Level 1
Job Description:
Training and Instructional Technology is seeking applicants for the position of Instructional Technology Specialist Level 1 - TEMP. The Training and Instructional Technology team provides technology training, instructional technology programming for faculty, and develops learning resources for Berklee faculty, staff, and students. This is a temporary position. The Instructional Technology Specialist 1 - TEMP will assist Training and Instructional Technology staff as they undertake a project to migrate the college's LMS from Moodle to Canvas. Daily activities will include working on departmental instructional technology tickets, providing instructional technology support for faculty, faculty technology training, helping to generate media and learning assets for faculty, and departmental operational support. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for assisting with and supporting departmental instructional technology work.Serves as first-level support and initial point of contact for faculty support requests from email, phone, walk-in and help-desk ticket database submissions.Assists on Training and Instructional Technology team tickets in the help-desk ticketing database and may assign tickets to appropriate personnel and collaborate student employees.Maintains a high degree of responsiveness to customers after the initial contact with informative follow-ups until a solution is achieved.Ensures instructional technology tickets are resolved and closed in a timely manner with accurate information and updates.Assists department staff with daily operational tasks including: support ticket work, communicating ticket and project progress to faculty, scheduling group and 1-on-1 training sessions and appointments, maintaining and updating scheduling system, coordinating with student employees to complete daily work, assisting with departmental and division-wide projects.Provides faculty with assistance and training in the use of instructional technologies to support educational objectives.
Includes assistance and training with:
LMS usage, general administrative technologies (email, Google apps, internal websites, etc.), music technology software and hardware, media and learning asset creation, and other instructional technology.
Other duties as assignedAdditional Duties When Required:
Assists with building and generating media and learning assets that support faculty and their teaching including: creation of screencasts, video filming/editing, audio recording/editing, photography, HTML 5 and web programming, creation of motion graphics animation, post production (color grading, audio mastering, compression) and more.Assists with departmental events and workshops as needed including faculty New Hire Orientation.

MINIMUM
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in instructional technology (or related field) or equivalent experience.1-3 years instructional technology experience in an academic environment.Demonstrated proficiency in instructional technology support and training. Experience working with instructors in instructional design and development.Good interpersonal skills, punctual, detail oriented and well organizedAbility to communicate effectively with faculty and staff from diverse professional and academic disciplines with varying degrees of technological competence.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
A strong understanding of information delivery and learning styles. Familiarity with instructional design principles, learning theories, and pedagogy associated with instructional technology.Familiarity with using and supporting Learning Management Systems, preferably Moodle and Canvas.Professional writing and organization skills.Strong macOS software knowledge.Must possess exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with faculty and staff from diverse professional and academic disciplines who have varying degrees of technological competence.Strong technical and analytical skills.Commitment to exemplary customer service; strong customer service skills including rapid response time, appropriate and timely escalation and incident resolution, and appropriate follow-up skills.Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and independently manage a changing workload and schedule.Ability to work with a sense of urgency.Must be reliable, punctual, detail oriented and well organized.Excellent visual, oral, and written communication skills.Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks without direct supervision.Ability to work independently and in a team environment, and remain composed under pressure to meet necessary deadlines.Ability to quickly learn existing and emerging instructional technologies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED:
Some specialized knowledge of and proficiency with various software products used in building media and learning assets, including but not limited to: Screenflow, Final Cut Pro, Motion, Photoshop, Illustrator, Hype, Dreamweaver, digital audio workstations (including Logic Pro and Pro Tools), Compressor, QuickTime, Acrobat Pro, Lightroom.Some experience in the design, development, and evaluation of institutional instructional technology projects.Formal study of music is strongly preferred.Other Information or CommentsThis position may provide an opportunity for limited remote work This document does not create an employment contract, implied or otherwise, other than an “at will“ employment relationship.
