Java/Linux Engineer - Integrations/ Seattle, WA , 8 Months Contract

Job Summary and Mission
This position contributes to Starbucks success by delivering and supporting technology solutions for capabilities that deliver integration services. This role would collaboratively identify, design, develop, and deploy technology and solutions to establish key business capabilities which enable strategic initiatives and operational improvements. Senior application developers require deep technical expertise, domain proficiency, and leadership skills. Typical activities include requirements analysis, solution design, technical development, and process improvement coupled with the ability to drive efforts and solution improvements effectively across Starbucks Technology and Business functions. In addition to delivering new technology and enhancing/supporting existing systems, the position would be negotiating and driving alignment across teams, and coaching less-experienced developers.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
Leadership – Provide project leadership by representing integration development team when engaged with cross functional teams including functional analysts, project management, architecture, infrastructure, and the business customer.
Technical Design and Implementation – Provide technical expertise and executing technical responsibilities.
Platform Stewardship – Proactively participates in helping shape platform efforts to promote platform evolvement and stability to support business needs.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

- Negotiates, facilitates, and influences others to gain alignment and mutually agreeable outcomes in complex and ambiguous situations. Socializes technical approach and design to project team and corresponding dependent teams.
- Takes on leadership opportunities within the development team. Initiates and facilitates team meetings to socialize technical ideas and encourages a culture of technical excellence and innovation among peers.
- Exhibits leadership courage with respectful, articulate positions to influence critical technical solutions.
Technical Design and Implementation – Provide technical expertise and executing technical responsibilities.
- Collaborates in in solution design process: requirements gathering, shapes and guides systems approach, helps with project initiation, contributes to functional design, and leads technical design and development.
- Builds solutions that are secure, durable, scalable, flexible, and proactively mitigates against production support issues. Leverages established design patterns and coding standards.
- Key contributor and driver in the deployment approach, including planning and execution and transition of the solution to the platform's operational context.
Platform Stewardship – Proactively participates in helping shape platform efforts to promote platform evolvement and stability to support business needs.
- Partners with cross functional teams, such as Infrastructure, Security, Architecture, and QA to strengthen and elevate the platform from a technology perspective.
- Contributes to the platform development community by providing input, content, and feedback on design patterns and coding standards.
Production Support for application and platform components
- Fulfills responsibilities for on-call support; collaboratively and effectively diagnosing, troubleshooting, and remediating incidents and problems to support the integration platform.
- Identifies systemic problems that need holistic solutions and feedback into platform roadmap exercises.
Summary of Experience
- 5-8 years of professional industry experience with software development and operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field

- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment
- Ability to learn and incorporate new technologies, concepts, and development languages.
- Thorough understanding of data transport mechanisms and integrations including synchronous, asynchronous, bulk data, tightly and loosely coupled methods.
- Proficient with Java based mid-tier systems,
- Working understanding of application architecture, infrastructure, and security concepts and technical implementations.
- Working Knowledge on any of the Message Queue systems like nats.io, kafka, rabbitmq
