THE JOB
This is a Software Engineer position. As a Software Engineer your roles and responsibilities will include:
  • Build high-performing, large scale applications that enable an optimal consumer experience.
  • Translate what people want (our clients and their customers) into products that work exceptionally well. You ll make this happen by leading and cooperating with other programmers and quality assurance experts across our company as well as with 3rd party companies/products.
  • Participate in an agile development team, implementing user stories with automated testing to verify acceptance criteria.
  • Identify and fix production defects, using modern practices to increase and monitor SW reliability, quality and maintainability.
  • Be part of a global, collaborative team who is always on the hunt for ways to improve and upgrade our products. At NCR, you ll get the feel of a start-up, but with solid corporate support.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Most importantly, you need to be a passionate Software Engineer who enjoys his work and is considered to be one of the best within your organization. The ideal [Job Title] would be someone with deep experience in many (if not all) of the following:
  • Bachelor's degree (or Master's degree) in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • A quick mind that solves complex problems in a fast-moving environment
  • Able to learn quickly, independently, and with moderate supervision. You figure out what you need to do and how to do it, then do it.
  • Great sense of ownership and accountability not just for your own tasks/assignments, but team, organizational and company objectives as a whole
  • 10+ years of working knowledge in wide variety of platforms and languages such as C++, .NET, Java, Golang, JS, Python, etc.
  • 5+ years of recent C++ experience or strong desire and aptitude to master C++ on the job
  • Experience in mentoring others on SW Engineering standards and emerging best practices
  • Able to effectively communicate and convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Cloud, Linux and Windows development experience
  • Test automation experience using gtest, Cucumber, Behave, Gherkin
  • Computer HW, Networking, TCP/IP Socket level communications experience
  • Experience in database design and creation of complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers and performance optimization
  • Preferred Retail experience, especially in the Convenience Store industry and Point of Sale systems
