Position: Embedded Software Development Group ManagerLocation: St Charles, IL 60174– Hybrid onsite This is a permanent, fulltime role, that is direct hire or contract to hire I am looking for an Embedded Sr Software Designer to lead a team of 3 software development engineers in developing embedded software for automotive electronic modules and components. In this role you will be
- Overseeing software development projects and activities of 3+ software developers, supporting via training, troubleshooting/problem-solving.
- Interpreting customer requirements and providing expertise in software design and development techniques
- Managing multiple customer specific software projects or product lines.
- Ensuring reviews are planned, conducted, and approved.
- Preparing project estimation data and completing projects according to time and effort estimates.
- Guiding the team through assignments and supervising tasks.
- Planning and ensuring that all required training is available to the team.
- Conducting peer reviews and participating in weekly status reviews.
- Participating in senior management reviews with the Software Design Manager.
- Working in conjunction with management to develop short- and long-range goals for self and the department.
- Updating and maintaining current products by researching and recommending improved design opportunities.
- Supporting and implementing the ISO14001 Environmental Policy as it pertains to work activities.
- Bachelor’ s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years’ Software Design Manager or Sr. Software Designer (as Mentor)
- 5+ years Software Development experience
- Experience with the following tools: assemblers, compilers, and debuggers; lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, function generators); configuration management systems (CVS, PVCS, or similar); and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project).
- Experience in creating and executing test plans in a laboratory environment
- Experience in creating software requirements and design documents.
- Familiar with a variety of the field’ s concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Embedded programming in " C" programming language, embedded programming in 8-bit/16-bit microcontroller assembly languages, software development processes that comply with SEI CMMI Level 3, and the automotive domain.
- Experience with ANSI “ C” Compilers
- Strong time management and resource planning skills.
- Must be innovative, customer-focused, and ready to collaborate in a team environment.
- Autosar (AUTOmotive Open System ARchitecture) or Elektrobit TRESOS (configuration tool) is a plus or possessing the concept of Autosar is advantageous, but not a requirement.
- Software Testing experience is a plus.
- Expertise with ISO 9001 / IATF 16949
