SUMMARY

S&C has over a century of experience engineering switching, protection, and control solutions for power grids and is now leading the industry with innovative software solutions to improve grid reliability, capacity, and efficiency. We have drawn on our extensive expertise in power grids and decades of experience in software development to create software that provides the intelligence to power critical smart grid applications. S&C’s power systems software enables important applications such as grid optimization programs, self-healing solutions, and distributed energy management. S&C understands the work involved in deploying and maintaining switching, protection, and control solutions for modern power grids. We applied this knowledge in developing software tools that make it easier for engineers and technicians to manage grid-based devices and supporting technology. As part of the Software Product Quality team, you will work closely with Software Engineers with deep expertise in developing and implementing distribution automation systems for electric power distribution. You will be a Hands-on QA Manager, managing and leading a team of geographically dispersed US and offshore QA engineers, testing Desktop, Embedded and Web based software applications. These software applications interact with S&C smart electric devices. You will manage the application testing and test automation effort. You will report to the Senior Manager of Software Product Quality in Alameda, CA. We need someone who is self-motivated, quick-learner, detail-oriented and has solid understanding of software testing and automation. We use agile software development and all the latest and greatest technologies. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:Provide hands on technical leadership to the team, including your own testing contributionsManage a team of geographically dispersed US and offshore QA engineersManage the test planning, test management and test automation effort for Desktop and Web based software applications that interact with S&C smart electric devices and electronic control boards.Manage the test automation development effort using Robot, Python, Selenium, Java, Webdriver, TestNG Review software requirements and specifications documentsCreate and review QA documents such as test strategy, test plans, test specifications, test estimates, test cases, test summary, test results, defects reportsUse test management tools to plan, manage, execute testing and broadcast test resultsHelp in Installing and maintaining the smart electric devices and electronic control boards in the QA labPrepare reliable testing estimates, monitor test schedules and progress, and report test statusWork closely with the project team including Product Management, Development, Project Management and other QA teams Up to 5% potential travel per yearIs this job right for you?

Experienced in manual testing and automation of desktop, web, enterprise, or mobile applications focused on User interface verificationExperienced in working with Test Management tools such as HP Quality Center, Tricentis qTest etc.Experienced in working with Defect Management Tools such as ClearQuest, JIRA etc.Extensive Experience in working with and leading geographically dispersed teams including offshore QA teamsExtensive Experience in configuring, testing and troubleshooting S&C smart electrical devices, control boards, products and applications.Expertise in simulating huge circuits with more than hundreds of Smart Grid switches and circuit configurations for testing S&C smart grid operations.Experience in training, mentoring and guiding the junior team members in the testing effortFamiliarity with Cyber Security, Dynamic Application Security, Penetration and Vulnerability TestingFamiliarity in SOA architecture and SOAP and Rest web services and API testingFamiliarity in Mobile App automation and testing using Appium on Android and iOS platformsResults oriented, product focused with excellent attention to detail and qualitySelf-motivated in getting the tasks completed, excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to work collaboratively with teams and be a team playerTo select this job as one of interest to you, at a minimum, you must have the following:Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Software, Electrical or Electronics or related degrees or equivalent experienceMinimum 10 years of hands-on QA analysis and software testing experience in an agile software development environment with at least 5 years of QA team lead experience. Experienced in leading/managing a team of 5 or more distributed software test engineers on multiple projects.Experienced in Manual, Functional, Regression and Integration testing of desktop, web and mobile applicationsProficiency in the use of at least one programming language such as Java(preferable), C#, C, C++ and one scripting language like python (preferable), Perl or shellDetail-oriented and logical thinker with strong analytical skills; Excellent written and verbal communication skills.#LI-KD1S&C is a global company providing equipment and services for electric power systems.
