Oakland FlexTech High School is located in Farmington Hills, MI, and serves the greater Metro-Detroit area. As a 9-12 high school, FlexTech offers flexible scheduling to accommodate learning outside the walls of the school through internships, college dual enrollment, and various community projects. Students find themselves challenged and inspired by the progressive, competency-based, and project-based learning model that is at the core of our instructional program.

Oakland FlexTech embraces the Small Schools Initiative, serving approximately 200 students who work closely with a teacher-advisor to monitor their progress and tailor their school experience to meet their individual needs and interests.

Qualifications include:

  • Minimum education requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mental Health, Social Work or related field (i.e. counseling, therapy, social services).

  • Recommended but not required to have a teacher certification and endorsement.

  • Ideal candidates have been trained in the IIRP program. 

  • Experience with facilitating informal circles and formal restorative conferences

This position will have the unique responsibility in planning for and facilitating restorative conversations and conferences.  The RPC will be responsible for leading staff in professional development to increase their restorative practices abilities.

In collaboration with the Executive Director, School Director, and School Social Worker, the Restorative Practices Coordinator (RPC) serves as a culture and climate leader.  As an active member of the student support team,the RCC will support in the planning, coordination, and administration of the school cultural activities. This position is also responsible for providing supports to assigned students that align with our portrait of a graduate as well as emotional and social growth.

Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitate Restorative Circles and Conferences

  • Lead staff in Professional Development around Restorative Practices

  • Support with communication to families

  • Lead tours and support with community outreach

  • Support with social and emotional well-being of staff and students

  • Develop and lead school-wide initiatives which foster an inclusive and supportive culture of belonging.

  • Meet routinely with administration and students support team

  • Support students with academic counseling and post-secondary planning

  • Assist students with goal setting, action towards reflection and revision, and self-efficacy. 

  • Facilitate student and parent workshops for post-secondary planning
