Job Description: Summary:

The main function of a product manager is to lead the development strategy of current and future technical features/products and presenting to stakeholders. A typical product manager is responsible for building applications in a web based and mobile app environment and guiding the delivery of a product through its lifecycle.

Job Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with other product managers, UX teams, business stakeholders, and development teams to define the product backlog and product roadmap by way of user stories, storyboards, wireframes, and other software design artifacts.

• Ensure engagement with development team during the product development lifecycle to provide User Story (requirements) clarification and immediate feedback upon completion.

• Coordinate and facilitate necessary interactions to obtain answers, provide direction, or eliminate impediments during product development.

• Lead all scrum ceremonies, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, stakeholder demos, and team retrospective.

• Ensure the product supports the company’s overall strategy and goals.

• Develop and implement a company-wide go-to-market plan.

• Assume a lead role for various product decisions in an Agile environment.

• Gather and prioritize product and customer requirements.

• Defining the product vision.

• Work closely with internal and external business units to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met.

• Ensure product quality expectations are defined and known across the team.

Skills:

• Strong experience in product development or program management of Software intensive technical projects with a successful project delivery record in a multi-stakeholder and cross-functional environment.

• Ability to maintain a leadership role in an Agile-based software development organization.

• Strong experience interacting and managing business customers and expectations.

• Strong organization and planning skills for project planning and activity management (PMP certification a plus).

• Problem solving skills to facilitate a shared understanding of problems, possible solutions, and determine the scope of any required changes (DMAIC, System V, Six Sigma).

• Critical thinking skills for evaluating multiple options and helping a team settle on problem solutions.

• Ability to listen to stakeholder needs but also critically consider those needs and ask probing questions until the real need or problem is surfaced and understood.

• Demonstrable knowledge of software development lifecycles and activities.

• Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work in across diverse teams and produce excellent results in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to articulate ideas and roadmaps to both technical and non-technical addressees.

• Strong experience in automotive product delivery, infotainment, mobile app development, and/or connected devices.

• Familiarity with Android or HTML 5 app development.

• Experience as a Web Architect or as a Web Software Developer

• Ability to work independently and manage one’s time.

• Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field required. MBA or other related advanced degree preferred.

• Certification as Scrum Master and/or Product Owner.

• 5-7 years of experience required.

Specific Responsibilities of this Position: As Product Owner, working hand in hand with stakeholders and partners throughout the entire product development lifecycle is key, with a focus on requirements and gathering and storying writing. The main activities of the role are:

• To define the Product Backlog and Product Roadmap for the nominated product(s).

• Set a clear vision and Release Plan for the product(s)

• Constant prioritization of the Product Backlog based on customer feedback, market changes and business priority.

• Figure out appropriate product Release Date and Content

• Actively manage internal and external partners

• Accept or reject the product teams work results at each Sprint Review meeting

• Provide regular reporting including product scope, schedule and planning

In addition, key accountabilities and tasks are:

Product Vision and Backlog Management

• Working with the product team to provide clear vision, direction and priority of the Product Backlog

• Manage / Provide the Partner Sprint Schedule

• Get to know the products on various hardware and coordinate in-vehicle and in-field testing with global partners via the OnStar Lab.

Customer Satisfaction

• Provide the team with clear information on whom the current and potential customers are, as well as the how, why, when, and with whom they use the product.

• Establish open lines of communication with customers in order to bridge the relationship between product development and customers.

• Ensure team is developing products that exceed end user expectations

Product Roadmap

• Developing the product roadmap to deliver the agreed product(s) in line with business strategy and product management

• Communicating the roadmap and technology vision with the Team(s)

• Weekly status updates to management on each product across the platforms

Release Management

• Put in place a release management plan to figure out versions of the software will be released, to who and when

• Ascertain the best time to release products to customers based on project, internal business and market data

Partner Management

• Application of techniques to establish, motivate and retain high performance software development and testing teams

• Facilitating knowledge transfer within the team alongside encouraging and mentoring a culture of knowledge exchange

Additional Description

What You Need

• Bachelor’s degree in various fields of study are applicable. Computer Science, Engineering, marketing, project management or equivalent experience

• 5+ experience in a product owner or equivalent role

• Ability to set and balance priorities efficiently.

• Ability to advocate for partners and ensure efficiencies of implementation across departments

• Some knowledge of software development lifecycles (SDLC) and activities.

• A clear ability to manage a range of different personality types in a facilitative and mature manner

• Positive relationship building skills including the ability to relate constructively to all levels of the organization.

 

Key Responsibilities:

The Product Owner will be responsible for building applications in mobile app environment.

Working in SAFe Agile environment they will be setting the strategy for current and future features/products and presenting the product to stakeholders. Many of the duties involve traditional Product Owner and Scrum/Agile activities such as: 1.) Collaborate with Product Manager, UX team, business stakeholders, and development teams to define the Product Backlog and Product Roadmap by way of User Stories, storyboards, wireframes, and other software design artifacts. 2.) Ensure continuing engagement with development team during the product development lifecycle in order to provide User Story (requirements) clarification and immediate feedback upon completion. 3.) Coordinate and facilitate necessary interactions in order to obtain answers, provide direction, or eliminate impediments during product development. 4.) Lead all scrum ceremonies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, stakeholder demos, and team retrospective.
