CBH Medical is directly hiring Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) to work at the Broome County Correctional Facility.
The open Licensed Practical Nurse positions are for Part-Time, and Per Diem.

Correctional environments are less strenuous than typical day-to-day nursing requirements.
Nurse will provide direct patient care.
Nurse will assist patients with ADLs as needed.
Nurse will accurately collect data pertinent to health of inmate including lab specimens, etc.
Nurse will administer PPD prior to inmate receiving a complete physical examination by the facility’s qualified health professional.
Nurse will support patient sick call within the limits of licensure. Record history, vital signs and gathers other appropriate data for utilization during physician’s sick call. Treat inmates with problems according to established policies and procedures and refer other medical problems to the appropriate clinician.
Nurse will assist clinician with sick call or minor surgical procedures.
Nurse will ensure physician/nursing orders are implemented. Use problem-oriented medical records system to chart using SOAP format.
Nurse will assist with rounds in the infirmary (where appropriate), a minimum of once per shift and record nurse’s notes on all inmates. Identify symptoms, reactions and progress of patients on a periodic basis; chart and report problems to supervisor.
Nurse will administer medications, including injections.
Maintain accountability, destroy and properly dispose of all needles and syringes.
Be knowledgeable of infection control guidelines and use good universal technique.
Implement procedures for patient transfers to medical facilities, outside health providers, or transfer within the correctional system.
Prepare regularly scheduled reports and special reports as necessary.
Participate in in-service education, obtaining at least 12 hours annually.
Graduate from a national or state approved school of vocational nursing.
Currently licensed to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in New York State.
Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to apply principles of nursing care.
Recognition of signs and symptoms of mental illness, retardation, emotional disturbance or chemical dependency.
Demonstrate the ability to draw blood and administer PPD tests.
