Position Summary

The Residential Supervisor implements Southwood’s mission philosophies, goals, standards, policies and procedures for Residential Services. Responsibilities include the supervision of the direct care staff, daily staffing management and ongoing program development in collaboration with the Clinical Program Director.

Unit Specific Performance Objectives

  • Designs and implements short-term and long-term plans for the program with staff input in order to ensure the ongoing clinical growth of the program.
  • Interviews and recommends candidates for the program in conjunction with the Program Manager.
  • Ensure on a daily basis the safety and cleanliness of all areas of the program.
  • Develops and implements cost containment efforts for the program.
  • Maintains staffing according to the staff management system based on program acuity and census.
  • Provide at least monthly supervision for all Direct Care Staff and RN staff assigned to the program and document the content of the meetings in supervision notes.
  • Conduct biweekly staff meetings for all the program staff.
  • Attend weekly treatment team meetings and work with the staff to develop appropriate treatment interventions for the residents.
  • Maintain a timely performance appraisal process for all program staff that encourages active staff participation.
  • Maintain quality improvement monitors for the program and continuously assess and improve program performance.
  • Investigate and initiate appropriate action for unusual incidents and grievances.
  • Emphasize and role model for all staff the importance of maintaining a therapeutic environment, residents rights, safety and the participation of residents and families in the program.
  • Adhere to all regulations and standards necessary to meet licensing and accreditation compliance.
  • Support an environment conducive to professional growth and learning by providing staff development programs to improve competence.
  • Serve on committees as designated by the Program Manager.
  • Participates in interdepartmental activities to improve communication, coordination and quality care.
  • Work cooperatively with all RTF supervisors and staff to enhance the image of all of Southwood’s RTF programs.
  • Participates in a minimum of forty hours of staff development programs annually.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific growth and development.
  • Delegates duties as required.
  • Participates in own performance process.
  • Maintains competence in identified universal, core and critical competencies.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Minimum Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Registered Nurse or Bachelor's degree (or at least 60 college credits) in a human service or related field.
  • Two years total experience in residential treatment of children and adolescents.
  • One year experience in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of group dynamics preferred.6. CPR certification renewed bi-annually or upon expiration of certification8. Valid Act 34/34 clearances
  • Valid PA drivers' license
  • Maintains competence in identified universal, core and critical competencies.
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCM) certification must be maintained to include annual refresher.
