Job Description

Ultratec, Inc., located on the west side of Madison, is the worldwide leader in developing new technologies for the deaf and hard of hearing population. Today, our equipment is recognized as the standard for excellence in text telecommunications. We are looking to add a Human Resources Generalist to our well-trained and experienced staff at our manufacturing facility, Advanced Assembly. 

At Advanced Assembly, our new 105,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art manufacturing plant is designed for optimal efficiency and quality in high-performance electronic assembly. For over 15 years, Advanced Assembly's exceptional reputation has been earned through manufacturing electronic assemblies for companies such as Motorola, AT&T and British Telecom. 

This full time position (40 hours per week), offers a 1st shift schedule, Monday-Friday, (with some flexibility on start and end times), a competitive starting salary, a full benefits package, and a casual work environment.

Job Description: The Human Resources Generalist manages the day-to-day operations of the Human Resource office for manufacturing personnel located at Advanced Assembly, Inc. The Human Resources Generalist carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruitment, hiring, updating Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS: SAGE and Time Force), employee relations, benefits and compensation administration, and conflict and complaint research and resolution.
 
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: (Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time).
  • Maintain and process employee paperwork, benefits, and payroll data with the Corporate HR Department, perform new hire orientations, and provide company policies, procedures, and employee benefits training to all new hires.
  • Provide disciplinary guidelines for all policy violations, including but not limited to, implementation, processing, and tracking of written warnings, suspensions, and terminations of employees as necessary.
  • Communicate with appropriate parties when employees are terminated or resign.
  • Track/coordinate employee performance reviews.
  • Track/coordinate FMLA requests.
  • Facilitate, document, and handle employee relations, which include but are not limited to, answering general personnel questions, dealing with employee personal problems as they relate to job performance, and addressing personnel complaints regarding the company, their supervisor, or their co-workers. 
  • Log all personnel complaints and track resolutions in order to provide feedback to administration regarding both satisfactory and unsatisfactory working conditions.
  • Assist with recruiting activities when needed, including writing and placing employment ads in newspapers and on Internet websites and identifying and establishing rapport with referral sources.
  • Interview external and internal employees utilizing screening requirements, and promote equal opportunity employment by making objective hiring decisions.
  • Work with management on policy review and updates or changes, and assist with advising employees of these updates/changes.
  • Additional duties as assigned by primary supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred, but not required.
  • 3-5 years of Human Resources administration in a diverse work environment is required.
  • Working knowledge of labor laws (FLSA, ADA, FMLA, HIPPA, etc.) is required.
  • Familiarity with federal, state and local employment legislation.
  • Knowledgeable in all stages of recruitment process.
  • HRIS administration experience preferred.
  • Ability to work with varying individuals objectively and make judgment calls and decisions on the spot.
  • Ability to coach others to handle and resolve conflicts.
  • Strong people skills with the ability to both listen and communicate effectively.
  • Calm/relaxed demeanor.
  • Strong organizational skills and a high amount of attention to detail.
  • Comfortable using and applying statistical information.
  • Experience with MS Office programs is required.
