Job Description

Position Purpose:
The Divisional Sales Manager (DSM) is the principal liaison between the Division and the Sales
The DSM is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies that effectively communicate
the strengths of the Division’s products and programs to the Sales organization and retailers.
To be successful, the DSM must be recognized as an effective advocate for the Division and its products.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Sales and Gross Margin Contribution
The scope of the DSM’s knowledge must encompass brands, pricing, style, utility, quality, packaging,
display, retail gross margin, advertising and promotional considerations and product support. The DSM
will develop and execute annual sales and profit plans for the Division in partnership with the Division
President. In addition the DSM will also develop Customer-specific pro-forma profit plans for the
Division’s products.
The DSM will work closely with Category Manager and the Product Development Department in bringing
new products to market. In addition the DSM must be familiar with product design and development. The
DSM should understand the immediate product development priorities and keep them updated on deliveries
and production timing.
Competitive Products
The DSM must be knowledgeable about the Division’s products, as well products offered by competitors.
The DSM is responsible for communicating competitive landscape by Division to the Sales Organization.
