Job Description

EvolutionHR is conducting interviews for an experienced Operations Manager to join a client team in the Roanoke area

 The Operations Manager directs, manages, and coordinates all activities associated with manufacturing and planning of all products. This position is responsible for efficient and economical manufacturing of company products in conformance with established goals and objectives.

The Operations Manager is directly accountable to lead the manufacturing organization to a level of performance identifiable with World Class organizations, utilizing lean production and continual improvement techniques. This position is responsible for adherence to annual budgets for manufacturing departments. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, the Operations Manager will have responsibility for all aspects of product manufacturing. The Operations Manager will work with leaders from teams across the company, from Purchasing and Engineering to Product Marketing and Sales to build and deliver high-quality products on-time, within cost standards.  Finally, as the head of manufacturing, the Operations Manager is expected to hire and mentor personnel to help ensure the efficient operation of all aspects of hardware manufacturing.

RESPONSIBILITIES (include but not limited to):

Participate in formulating and administering company policies and developing goals and objectives. This includes the direction, focus, and visualization of activities in responsible departments to further the overall progressive goals and objectives and monitor their progress.

Manage the company's manufacturing activities to ensure maximum effectiveness is obtained for the production of quality products within specified time and budgetary guidelines.

Accountable to ensure products meet or exceed customer quality standards and required delivery schedules are met.

Interface with Purchasing, Engineering and Sales/Marketing to coordinate the production process for the introduction of new products.

Directs efforts to ensure company facilities and equipment are adequately designed, built and maintained. The emphasis will be on robust equipment/processes utilizing lean and other tools to create a high-performance culture that is deadline driven and constantly striving to improve quality, costs and all other manufacturing methods. Likewise, create strategies to reduce labor cost, reduce scrap, and ensure a product free of defects.

Provide leadership in continuous improvement activities to achieve quality, cost, and delivery objectives and improvement goals.

Create and implement planning models and processes that will drive all production  capabilities to benchmark levels (industry best practices) and meet current and future customer demands.

REQUIREMENTS:

BS in Business, or a minimum of 8-10 years of manufacturing experience

Lean training and experience

3-5 years related experience in progressive change management role

Demonstrated strengths in strategic business assessment and business planning

Service, transaction and manufacturing industry background and experience a plus

NECESSARY SKILLS:

Ability to engage the workforce, fostering a culture where associates are enthusiastic about their work and strive to further the organization; thoughtfully considers personnel issues and is flexible to reach solutions 

Builds robust relationships with colleagues from all departments including sales, engineering, procurement, manufacturing and members of the domestic and international sales teams

Ability to extract, organize, analyze and report data in a manner that is relevant for making business decisions and is useful to others in the organization

Looks for and implements efficiencies to material storage, inventory control, and kitting processes; possesses strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills

Grasps short and long-term goals and works with strategic focus; sound planning skills

Ability to plan and control workflow, materials and other resources to minimize costs

Computer skills working with Microsoft Office; experience with Visual ERP Software and Crystal Reports or similar is beneficial

Ability to engage teams, instilling a sense of trust in the workforce; gains support for new initiatives through transparency and advocacy 

High orientation toward customer needs and satisfaction  

Maintain an inventory accuracy of 95% or better.

Develop and Implement that material is pulled in First-in, First-out (FIFO) order

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:Reports to the VP of Operations

Must pass a same day drug screen, background. Must have a steady work history with a great attitude!
