The cook is responsible for completing the duties necessary for the preparation of meals for patients and staff members in accordance with prescribed standards. ---Additional responsibilities include planning cooking schedules, assisting with cleaning and washing duties, and receiving food and supply orders. Assist in washing pots, pans, and utensils and cleaning according to applicable policies. Set up food carts with food and utensils, deliver to areas. Assume responsibility for storage and disposal of unused foods in an appropriate manner and consult with management on effective use of leftovers. Plan cooking schedules so that food is ready at required times. Review patient census reports and daily menus to determine the type and quantity of meat, vegetables, soups, desserts and other foods to prepare.
- HS Diploma
- Formal training in hotel or institutional cooking preferred
