Job Requirements

Required:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Current Texas RN licensure
BLS certification or obtained within 1 month/3 months respectively

PALS certification is required

Experience of 2-3 years in surgery is required

Work experience required in a hospital setting
Demonstrates manual dexterity
Be able to lift, push, or move a light to heavy weight patient, equipment and/or supplies. 
Communication skills and phone skills


Preferred:
 
Pediatric and/or orthopaedic experience

Experience in a pediatric critical care or acute care setting

In approximately 6 to 12 months, the services currently located in the Shriners Hospitals for Children-Houston will transition to the Shriners Hospital for Children-Galveston location.


Shriners Hospitals for Children – Houston, located in the heart of the prominent Texas Medical Center, has an immediate opening for a full-time experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse.


The Operating Room RN is a specialized ambulatory care nurse, defined as a nurse who provides care to patients before and after surgery and patients undergoing outpatient procedures. This will include admissions, post-operative care, discharge, and shared responsibilities with the PACU. The position will consist of 25-35 hours per week with flexibility in hours between 7:00am to 5pm based on the surgery schedule needs.


Performance is reflective of the mission, vision, and values of SHC. Promotes quality patient care in a safe work environment. The staff nurse maintains effective communication with all levels of the hospital personnel, patients, and patients families.

Required:
