Job Description

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director HRIS, this position is responsible for the design, development, integration, documentation, and maintenance of all computer applications systems for the Human Resources Department. This includes management of HR virtual servers, workstations, and network systems and their security. It requires the ability to effectively manage computer system integration with university resources and the various software applications within HR.

Coordinate activities and day-to-day troubleshooting of software, hardware and network issues within the HR department to ensure computer information systems needs are being met. This includes understanding the business process in the department and developing recommendations for improving efficiency and productivity using university computing resources.

Create and maintain Human Resources Internet and Intranet sites and stay trained in current technology and practices.

Assist and train Human Resources staff in the use of software packages used in the office, especially the Microsoft Office suite.

Ensure that new users are assigned proper access rights to directories and files pertaining to their positions, and that former users no longer have access to Human Resources data.

Responsible for inventory of computer equipment, software licenses and workstations. This includes making fiscally responsible purchases as needed and maintaining a rotation of workstations to ensure systems are replaced as needed.

Analyze the current use and understanding of computer application systems in the department, perform software maintenance and upgrades for the department, and develop any additional documentation or procedures needed to ensure their proper use.

Act as HR’s technical lead over HR’s network environment.

Automate HR procedures where possible. This includes developing new procedures and suggesting improvements to old procedures as technology and information needs change. Work with commercial software or hardware vendors to smoothly integrate any purchased software/hardware into the existing computer environment. This includes mapping current data structures to the new or updated environment and application testing. The ability to clearly communicate any problem to vendor representative and effectively coordinate a resolution is also required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and five years of information technology experience.


Strong customer service and troubleshooting skills.
Experience using WordPress for maintaining websites.
Advanced level of experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
