Responsibilities:

  • Lead an Issues Management (IM) program that is designed to proactively and systematically identify, assess, monitor, report and escalate significant operational risks.

  • Write Executive summaries for reports.

  • Set field reporting requirements from stakeholders.

  • Present and represent department risk-based reports in meetings.

  • Approve changes before promotion to production.

  • Manage GRC vendor relationships.

  • Lead relationships with business leader to provide guidance on operation risk.

  • Set a strong operational risk culture through proactive leadership, oversight of risk training, open dialogue and transparent sharing of information with lines of business and internal audit and a balanced approach to risk taking and reward.

  • Advise issue remediation efforts.

  • In-take IM/GRC internal and external data requests.

  • Proactively set strategy to reflect industry trends.

  • Develop strategy and make program change recommendations.

  • Manage IM/GRC policy, procedures, job aids and other documents.

  • Coach, develop and manage direct reports.

  • Support Head of IM on strategic initiatives.

  • Support and assist GRC module owners and programs.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

  • Masters of Science in Business Administration (MBA), Risk Management or similar major is preferred

  • Risk-based certifications a plus

  • 10+ years of banking and/or financial services experience, preferably in the mid to large banking sector

  • 8+ years of risk management experience, preferably in ERM or an ORM function within the second-line of defense

  • 5+ years of experience performing policy and procedural writing

  • 5+ years of supervisory/managerial experience leading diverse teams in a high volume environment

  • 2+ years of experience managing risk systems, such as a GRC or other SaaS solutions is preferred

  • Previous experience dealing directly with auditors and regulators

  • Previous experience as a trainer or corporate presenter is preferred

  • Ability to independently identify, solve and remediate problems with little or no direction.This is a leadership position, therefore the Director needs to lead, not be constantly managed

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio and Outlook

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Possesses critical thinking skills to analyze issues, root cause analysis and eventually the effectiveness of issue remediation plans

  • Track record of managing constructive and transparent relationships with internal stakeholders and/or customers.
