Job Description

POSITION TITLE: Web Designer
DEPARTMENT: Information Systems
REPORTS TO: Director, IS-Application Development
________________________________________________________________________
GENERAL PURPOSE:
The web Designer is expected to perform ongoing maintenance and enhancements to the websites. Position interfaces with application development teams and managers for keeping the site up-to-date.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
** Build and update websites using HTML 5, Drupal (CMS), PHP, NetBeans IDE,ASP.NET, Bootstrap, CSS 3, JavaScript, jQuery, JSON, Angular JS, and other front-end technologies
** Optimization of the websites to meet the latest SEO requirement
** Ensure all website are Section 508 compliant and meet all requirements of accessibility for people with disabilities
** Maintain website source code and versions using TFS
** Create mock-ups using tools like JustInMind or Balsamiq for the projects
** Work with graphics editing tools like Adobe Illustrator/ Photoshop
** Work with team members to deliver new website options, functionality and applications
** Collaborate with developers, testers, and managers using SharePoint
** Design user-centric websites based off of User Experience studies
** Continually enhance your development skills and learn about architecting web solutions/technologies
** Utilize Google analytics to manage and report website traffic trends
** Keep up with the latest industry trends related to web technologies, and software development

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
** A minimum of 3 years of website designing and Search Engine Optimization(SEO) experience using HTML 5, Drupal, PHP, Bootstrap, CSS, IIS, Apache, JavaScript, jQuery, and JSON
** Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Graphic Design, or any other related technical field or equivalent experience
** Knowledge of database design and integration in SQL Server and MySQL
** Knowledge of content marketing
** Attention to detail, tenacious drive for problem solving, and ability to resolve complex problems in an fast paced environment


NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to: work from designated office for collaborative/interactive fulfillment of duties; concentrate in an open-office “cubicle” environment; appropriately and directly interact with other staff members and/or outside associates; perform telephone and/or computer work for extended periods of time; operate office equipment such as computer, telephone, and copy/scan/fax machine; attend and participate in meetings via phone, computer, or in person.
** Working knowledge of fundamental operations of relevant software, hardware and other
equipment.
** Knowledge and skills in customer service practices.
** Related skills and training in Microsoft Windows environments.
** Excellent oral and written communication skills including good grammar, voice and diction.
** Problem analysis and solving.
** Adaptability.
** Planning and organizing.
** Attention to detail.
** Stress tolerance and flexibility with schedule.
