WES Health System, a 501 (c) (3) organization is the parent company for several non-profit and for-profit organizations serving the residents of Philadelphia. WES Health System and its subsidiary companies were named after Dr. Warren E. Smith, a prominent African American psychiatrist who was committed to providing quality behavioral healthcare to the underserved. WES, founded in 1992 has experienced significant growth during the last five years and has created an organizational structure to meet the needs of current and future growth.
WES Health System has an exciting opportunity in our BHRS Department for a Licensed Behavior Specialist Consultant (BSC).
The Master's Level BSC will design and direct the implementation of a child-specific individualized behavior modification intervention plan. While maintaining direct contact with the child and family, the BSC will primarily provide assessment; program design; monitoring; and supervision to the assigned Therapeutic Staff Support (TSS). Strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, developed documentation capabilities and a motivated team attitude are essential attributes for a successful Licensed BSC.
We also have a need for bilingual individuals, who speak English and Spanish fluently.
The Licensed Behavior Specialist Consultant may be a mental health clinician with a current Pennsylvania licensure as a Psychologist. The Licensed Psychologist will not be required to demonstrate coursework or behavior modification training. The Psychologist should adhere to the American Psychological Association's guidelines for clinical supervision.
The Licensed Behavior Specialist Consultant is required to have a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in a clinical mental health discipline such as Psychology, Counseling, Clinical Social Work, Psychiatric Nursing, and/or Marriage and Family Therapy. Degree must include clinical coursework in the foundations of behavioral health and the provision of mental health services (e.g., individual, group, and family therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, crisis counseling, abnormal psychology, psychopathology, assessment, child development, personality theory, psychotherapy lab, clinical practicum). Other courses may be considered as determined by a transcript/syllabi review. For a degree to count as a mental health degree, the degree must contain at least 12 credit hours in core behavioral health coursework as defined above. No more than 3 of these 12 credit hours can be derived from a supervised clinical mental health practicum experience (teaching/education/non-clinical practicum experiences will not count). Courses such as statistics, program and policy development and program administration will not be counted as behavioral health courses because they do not include instruction in direct provision of mental health services.
Training in behavior analysis/modification (minimum of 8 hours prior to hire and 8 hours thereafter). 2 years if verified post-Master's Degree experience providing mental health treatment to children, and at least 1 year experience using behavior analysis/modification techniques.
