GENERAL OVERVIEW OF KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
To identify behavioral goals, design appropriate interventions and supervise the implementation of a behavior modification plan that is tailored to the specific needs of the client and family. The Behavior Specialist Consultant oversees the work of the treatment team members as they provide services directly to the client and/or family in the home, school, and day care center or through the use of behavior modification that will enable the client to be maintained and function appropriately in the least restrictive environment.
1. A licensed mental health clinician with a current Pennsylvania license as a Psychologist.
2. If not licensed as defined above, must meet criteria for all items below: Master’s Degree from an accredited university in a clinical mental health discipline, such as: Psychology, Counseling, Clinical Social Work, Psychiatric Nursing, and Marriage and Family therapy, for example. The Master’s Degree must include clinical coursework in the foundations of behavioral health and the provision of mental health services (i.e., individual, group and family therapy, abnormal psychology, psychopathology, cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic therapy, crisis counseling, assessment, child development, personality theory, psychotherapy lab, clinical practicum). Other courses may count as determined by a review of the transcript/syllabi. In order for a degree to count as a mental health degree, the degree must contain at least (12) credit hours in core behavioral health coursework as defined above. No more than three (3) of these twelve (12) credit hours can be derived from a supervised clinical mental health practicum experience (teaching/education/other non-clinical practicum experiences will not count).
3. At least two (2) years verified post-Master’s experience providing mental health treatment to children, and at least one (1) year experience using behavior analysis/modification techniques.
4. Functional Behavioral Analysis (FBA) Certification and 8 hours of Behavioral Analysis/ Modification annually required.
