Job Description

Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic (2ND/3RD SHIFTS)

Location: Rochester, NY

Degree: Diploma/GED and related experience (1-3 years)

Compensation: $ 25.70 + hourly

Key Responsibilities:


Installs, maintains and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipes, electrical and hydraulic systems.

Includes the following and any other duties that may be assigned by a supervisor:


PRODUCTION EQUIPMENT REPAIR

  • Sanitary pump/motor maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Sanitary stainless piping installation and repair.
  • Sanitary valve maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Heat exchanger (Plate, Shell/Tube, Triple Tube or other) maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Separator and related systems maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Pump maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Vacuum pump maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Pasteurizer and related systems maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Variable speed drive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Fan and blower maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Milk powder drying, transfer, storage, packaging, and palletizing equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.

 

PRODUCTION UTILITY SYSTEMS REPAIR

  • Steam and condensate piping, pumps, controls, and auxiliary equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Compressed air piping, controls, and auxiliary equipment, repair, and maintenance.
  • Glycol piping, pumps, controls, and auxiliary equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Ammonia piping, valves, controls, and auxiliary equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Chemical piping, pumps, valves, controls, and auxiliary equipment maintenance, troubleshooting.

OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE

  • Boiler and other related controls.
  • Utility logs, charts, and other clerical.
  • Test of automatic monitoring systems.
  • Boiler and feedwater systems operation, maintenance, and monitoring.
  • Water softener operation, maintenance, and monitoring.
  • Air compressor and related systems operation, maintenance, and monitoring.
  • Ammonia system operation, maintenance, and monitoring.
  • Hot water set operation, maintenance, and monitoring.
  • Potable water wells operation, maintenance, and monitoring.
  • Glycol systems operation, maintenance, and monitoring.
  • Ice builder operation, maintenance, and monitoring.
  • “Locks Out” equipment and all energy sources prior to repairs.


Additional Specifics:

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 1 to 3 years of documented mechanical maintenance experience. Experience with steam and fluid system maintenance required. Experience in stainless steel welding, pump & valve service, and refrigeration maintenance desired. Experience in dairy or food manufacturing environment highly desirable. Individual must have demonstrated ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment. Experience and training in performing electrical maintenance desired. Duties are to safely troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on all production and plant support equipment. Experience with AB and GE PLC systems.


Standard Abilities:

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
