POSITION SUMMARY

Wheeler Clinic's Connecticut Clearinghouse has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Library/Social Media Specialist with shared responsibilities of daily library operations and the utilization of technology solutions for marketing and information dissemination.  Duties include library material procurement and cataloguing, LMS support, website and social media content management, reference and referral services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborates in the selection and implementation of technology solutions to improve Clearinghouse online patron experience and engagement. 

Utilizes social media and web-based technologies to market and promote Clearinghouse services statewide.  

Develops and disseminates messaging that supports the Clearinghouse communication strategy utilizing approved social media channels, listservs and the internet.

Creates content for and maintains sections of the Clearinghouse website and social networking sites.

Manages the maintenance, upgrades and integrity of all library management software and databases.

Develops and implements library policies and procedures.

Reviews, selects, acquires, and catalogs all audiovisuals, books and curricula in the Clearinghouse collection while assuring that they are relevant and accurate for use by patrons while monitoring and adhering to program budget.

Oversees the collection of all library data and creates reports for state funders.

Provides timely reference, referral, and/or research assistance to patrons either in-person, via phone, email, or fax.

Independently works with stakeholders to manage requests for new materials and resources within program budget.

Works directly with funders to ensure materials and resources available meet the needs and expectations of those funders within program budget.

Manages library records and uploads necessary data to the state's database on a quarterly basis.

Maintains a current working knowledge of issues related to prevention, wellness and recovery to ascertain that the library maintains current and cutting edge resources for patron and stakeholder utilization.

Works independently in a highly visible role with state funders on statewide prevention community readiness survey and other health promotion initiatives.

Develops bibliographies and other print resources for publication and use by patrons and stakeholders.

Develops and maintains a holistic knowledge of populations being served including cultural, ethnic, sexual orientation, gender and ability differences.

Assists with the registration, materials preparation, and audiovisual set-up for conferences and workshops, and attends these events as needed.

Participates in trainings related to library services and prevention.

Represents Wheeler Clinic and Connecticut Clearinghouse at conferences, workshops, and community events. 

Assists staff in filling pamphlet and poster orders and other activities as need.

Continues to develop knowledge and understanding about the history, traditions, values, family systems, and artistic expression of groups served as well as uses appropriate methodological approaches, skills, and techniques that reflect an understanding of culture.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree plus at least 2 years of experience is required. Master's degree in Library Science, Media Science or Communications preferred.

Must have outstanding social media, technology and communication skills; a strong customer service orientation; and be able to manage and prioritize varied simultaneous assignments.  Knowledge of alcohol, tobacco and other drug (ATOD) prevention and behavioral health a plus.  

Strong organizational skills and the ability to function in a team environment is required. The ability to demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to accept change is also required. A valid driver's license and personal transportation is needed to meet the traveling aspects of the position.
