The Human Resources team for the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business (JCB) provides transactional and consultative support to all faculty and staff on a broad spectrum of HR matters including recruitment, compensation, professional development, and employee relations.
As a member of the JCB Human Resources team, the HR Assistant will provide high-level execution of staff and academic human resources activities, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws, as well as University policy.
The HR Assistant will deliver a full range of transactional and HRIS support, and assist in providing consultative support to an assigned client group within JCB. This position will partner with the assigned HR Generalist to provide exemplary customer support and services related to HR processes, policies, procedures. The HR Assistant will provide support for standard HR functions including processing appointments and payroll actions, posting vacant positions and managing candidate communications, leaves administration, and support of employee relations events as needed. This position may also be called upon to provide in-depth personnel reporting and data analysis support, assistance with basic employee relations activity, identify and leverage best practices and process improvements to create operational efficiencies, and/or full life-cycle recruitment support.
•Associates Degree with 4 to 6 years related experience in human resources, labor relations, business management, or related area; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Solid understanding and application of HR knowledge and all applicable HR laws at the local, State, and Federal- level.
•Ability to discreetly manage highly confidential material and to exercise sound judgment and discretion.
•Must demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
•Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with varied audiences at all levels of the organization.
•Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment, adapt to changing priorities, and effectively manage multiple competing deadlines, assignments and projects in a proactive, solution-oriented manner while paying close attention to details and accuracy.
•Preference will be given to candidates with data analysis and reporting experience, and/or demonstrated recruiting experience and proficiencies
