Job Description

Chamberlain Advisors is currently conducting an executive search for an IT Director who will oversee all current & future information technology needs of our client. This position requires a fine balance between strategic IT vision and pragmatic, hands-on, problem-solving and execution.   The ideal candidate will have over 12 years of progressive experience providing IT leadership, technology direction, vision, and execution for our Client. Reporting to the CFO, the IT Director will participate as a member of the executive management team and be accountable for maintaining & supporting existing and expertly implementing future business-critical IT infrastructure, applications, and related tools necessary to make our client successful. This is a full-time position offering a competitive base salary, bonus, and other total rewards such as healthcare, dental, paid time off, and retirement savings program.

Work Location & Travel Requirements: The position is based out of Orange, California and will require regular travel to 6 client facilities all located within 30 – 45 min of each other. Travel will decrease over time as additional IT resources are hired and technology consolidation projects are completed.

About Our Client

Our client is a leader in the custom food manufacturing industry, producing soups, sauces, dressings, fresh salsas, and muffin batters for both retail and foodservice customers. Two businesses, independent of one another and offering similar products and services, have recently been combined in a private equity acquisition which will allow both companies to better service existing customers through a more diverse set of product and packaging offerings (sizes and formats), additional capacity for growth, and greater culinary expertise and resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include the list below. Other Duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

  • Provides thought leadership on how to create competitive advantage for the business through the use of technology. This requires thorough understanding of the business to be a credible and strategic partner to executive leadership.
  • Creates and manages the IT Roadmap and the IT Budget.
  • Researches application software and works closely with operations leaders to enable productivity, cost savings and efficiency
  • Learns company business processes related to the ERP modules to assist users and provide support in the areas of GL, AR, AP, IC, SOP, Scheduling, etc.
  • Works closely with operations leaders to streamline and optimize business processes and utilize IT Tools appropriately—ERP, MRP, CRM, ECM, EDI, etc.
  • Leads the IT organization through knowledge of current operational hardware and software platforms at an expert level, understanding, enabling and supporting the business growth pattern.
  • Provides support, guidance and mentorship to IT staff; ensures that they are making progress in developing their skillsets across Applications, Hardware and IT Support
  • Manages infrastructure as a service provider to ensure high service levels to business users for connectivity and computing resources
  • Manages IT projects such as ERP implementation and enhancements, platform consolidations (phone, email, web), Reporting and BI rollout, acquisition integrations, etc.
  • Manages performance and supports the organization’s hardware devices including servers, workstations, printers and WAN devices.
  • Performs system administration tasks ensuring the smooth Company operations in production and test environments.
  • Provides support for all network connections including MPLS, T1, WAN, Ethernet, switches, CAT5/6 cabling, fiber optic, microwave, RF wireless, bridge, router, etc.
  • Together with third party performs network administration functions and monitoring in order to keep the network in a cost effective and stable state of operation with minimal downtime
  • Performs and monitors all network backup and disaster recovery procedures for network servers and workstations for all Company facilities
  • Provides desktop support for all Company network users and remote users that access the network internally or via VPN
  • Perform administration and monitoring of the company’s Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and WINS servers
  • Sets up and maintains Desktop/Laptop/Server/thin client/terminal on current Windows operating systems, office suite, ERP client access software and other client-server software
  • Performs administration, user support, thick/thin client support, and version upgrades of the company electronic content management system
  • Support Company future cloud based and on-site virtualization platforms (IaaS, DRaaS, BaaS)
  • Provides administration, maintenance, and support for the company email system and mobile devices (i.e. Android, iOS)
  • Consolidates and supports the Company’s VoIP phone system
  • Administers, maintains, and supports all Company’s security and remote access devices including firewall and VPN access and administers user portal connection to corporate network
  • Learns and supports the Company’s data collection and bar coding system which consists of wireless hand-held scanner hardware, ERP data collection application, and enterprise labeling software
  • Assists as needed in the implementation of new business technologies
  • Learns and understands data processing in the time and attendance hardware/software (time-keeping and biometric devices)
  • Maintains company IT inventory assets and warranty information
  • Understands, and if needed, helps in the creation of the Company IT and general policies and advises the user community on adherence
  • Maintains the Company’s anti-virus software and procedures
  • Administers, maintains, and supports Terminal Servers
  • Maintains and creates documentation of network and hardware configurations and procedures
  • Is available on call for after-hours support and implementation initiatives as needed
  • A 4-year technical degree is required, MBA or advanced degree preferred though consideration will be given to significant relevant work experience with a track record
  • Experience required for this position is a minimum 12 years in related functions and demonstrated ability to work well with executive leadership and end-users
  • The candidate must be self-disciplined and show initiative, must be able to balance the needs of this position which are both high and low level requiring prioritization skills
  • A thorough understanding of networking concepts is essential to support the organization.
  • It’s advisable that the candidate has proficient domain of ITIL processes and best practices in order to align the strategy and growth of the IT organization to the industry’s highest standards
  • The ideal candidate has superior written and oral communication skills, is efficient at time-management, setting and meeting expectations.
  • Experience recruiting, cultivating, mentoring and empowering IT Junior staff is required as the organization expands
  • The candidate is not afraid of rolling up their sleeves and getting involved in researching and fixing problems, working with people at all levels in the organization and providing resolutions on a timely basis to help the business flow
  • The position will on occasion require duties to be performed after normal business hours and on weekends or holidays
