Job Description


Applications Engineer

Company is currently looking to expand its Applications Engineering team.  

Approx. 20-30% travel required

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree minimum in engineering, chemistry or biology

  • 5 years minimum experience, 2 years min. post graduate

  • Technical knowledge and experience with fluid power systems

  • 3D CAD experience with SolidWorks or similar.   FEA, Fluidics, and Thermal analysis are a plus.

  • Experience with IVD and/or analytical chemistry instrumentation.

  • Experience with piston pumps, diaphragm, and/or pinch valves.

  • Regulatory experience (FDA, UL, CSA, CE) a plus.

  • Business degree, classes, and/or experience a plus.

  • Electrical background in control and/or sensor implementation a plus.

 

Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to represent the company directly to customers as a leader in engineering support

  • Comfort in speaking with technical and non-technical people

  • Project management and/or team leadership skills

  • Able to travel (mostly domestic but possibly international)

  • The ability to get your hands dirty in testing and prototypes occasionally

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision – comfortable with taking initiative

  • Basic sales skills a plus.

  • The ability to work on systems for leaders in the IVD, life science, and analytical chemistry markets.

  • Constant flow of new and exciting projects.

  • Supportive and adaptable atmosphere to ensure our employee’s long term growth and success.

     

    Responsibilities:

  • Report to Applications Engineering Manager

  • Expand, support, and initiate long term technical relationships with key OEM customers

  • OEM management including communication, quality reports, engineering technical support and custom design

  • Assist design and manufacturing in the development of new and/or revised product according to customer requirements

 

  • Provide timely reports summarizing findings on a given product, project or territory

  • Provide technical training of customers in products as required

  • Assist and train Salespeople in adapting current and new products to customer need and satisfaction

  • Support product sales plans relating to pricing, life cycle and forecasting

  • Investigate market needs for innovative products and communicate them to R&D Engineering for product development

Conduct market research through trade associations, internet investigation and corporate services
