Job Description

Primary Duties

This person will lead the US Hematology marketing strategy for multiple products within the portfolio. This role will work with the global marketing team to develop business cases and gain support for launch, supply chain planning and long range planning for the US market. Responsible for developing all promotional materials, messaging and playbooks rolled out to the sales team.


Key activities include:

  • Build, maintain, and disseminate long-range forecast models in line with corporate and brand planning needs and mechanisms, based on facts and research.

  • Develop US strategic plans and drive execution at the field level

  • Collaborate with team members from marketing, market research, finance, competitive intelligence, pricing, and market access to make sure all relevant insights inform the forecasts

  • Work with commercial leadership to develop standard reporting systems and dashboards to facilitate measurement and early intervention via key brand performance metrics.

  • Develop and execute content for national sales meeting, regional meetings

  • Provide input into Business Development initiatives throughout evaluation

  • Market analytics/data analysis to inform the strategy and decision making

  • Deliver expected results on complex, multifaceted marketing projects to support success

  • Drive key medical initiatives that will support disease state awareness and product growth

  • Matrix manage diverse multi-functional teams to deliver key projects

  • Develop and execute communication plans, messaging and branding campaigns.

  • Establish and champion consistent application of best practices across the organization.

  • Manage promotional budget and spend

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to present effectively to a diverse range of audiences.

  • Hire, grow and develop team of 3-4 marketers

Job Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Advanced degree preferred.

  • 10 years of consumer marketing experience

  • 7+ years of experience of pharmaceutical marketing experience

  • Strong Vendor and KOL presence

  • Strong marketing acumen: product launches, segmentation / targeting.

  • Previous management experience required

  • Thrombosis/Hematology experience is strongly preferred.

Strong understanding of digital approaches to reach and impact patients. Strong understanding of developing / executing patient outreach programs and event marketing to build patient relationships. Strong acumen in building patient relationships. Proven track record in exceeding ROI norms for pharmaceutical consumer marketing programs. Strong understanding of current consumer FDA digital guidelines.

  • Highly developed business acumen with the ability to use knowledge of the industry and marketplace to formulate strategies that identify long-term benefits for customers and evaluates decisions by taking into account the interests of the entire organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive the achievement of business goals through aligning people, process, structure, information and communication systems

  • Ability to ensure that talent pipelines are proactively managed to ensure Shire’s leadership needs for the future

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across disciplines to align sales execution to product strategies

  • Inspires and motivates others by helping the broader sales organization understand Shire’s strategy and future

  • Initiatives ways to improve performance by developing novel approaches

  • Ability to shape and implement change efforts
