Job Description

Director of External Reporting

Location: Wichita, Kansas

Salary $150k-$200k + 20% bonus  


Bell & Associates, Inc. has been engaged by our client located in South-Central Kansas for their next Director of External Reporting role. Our client is in the Financial Services Industry with operations in the United States, Canada and England with close to 1 Billion in revenue. They are experiencing tremendous growth and driving towards IPO in the near future. 



Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of the financial and external reporting for the company, ensuring compliance
  • with all SEC, U.S. GAAP, NYSE rules and regulations.
  • Oversee technical accounting research related to new and proposed accounting standards and unusual.
  • Transactions and preparation of related memorandums documenting the Company’s position and impact
  • Responsible for monthly review and analysis of results, including Analysis of results, as well as consistency of reporting across segments
  • Provide support and analysis for quarterly earnings calls Coordinates, directs, plans and executes the financial reporting component of the external audit
  • Conducts, supports and assists with the internal audit function and the initial implementation and ongoing
  • SOX compliance requirements, internal controls and corporate policies and procedures
  • Supports and participates in the FMRC, Operations Excellence and Quarterly Business Review Meetings.
  • Writes, implements and ensures effective and practical implementation of corporate accounting policies.
  • Assists in recruiting, training and evaluating staff; assists in developing and implementing continued training for professional accounting associates Responsible for maintaining an appropriate level of internal control over external reporting.
  • Understand applicable company policies, procedures and other job-specific instructive documents and materials.
  • Conduct business and perform job duties in a manner consistent with the requirements set forth in all company policies, procedures and other directives, and in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete all compliance training assigned to them to understand the key provisions of law, regulation and internal policies and procedures applicable to their job duties, as well as the impact of non-compliance on the company’s reputation and success.
  • Raise concerns about any practice(s) believed to be a violation of, or inconsistent with, company policies,
  • procedures or other directives, or in violation of legal or regulatory requirements
  • Monitor processes and procedures to ensure safety and compliance
  • Model the Company’s Vision and Values
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience

  • 8+ years of related experience, with public accounting experience strongly preferred
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Must have strong grasp of accounting theory and knowledge of SEC and regulatory reporting rules
  •  Financial services preferred but not required
  • Team player that has the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to all levels of management in a
  • non-technical manner
  • Must have good project management and organization skills
  • Knowledge of Hyperion Financial Management consolidation tool preferred but not required
  • Education or Equivalent Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
