Job Description

Quality Insurance Inspector II

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the quality and compliance of final packaged product, the inspection, release, and management of the packaging components (i.e. labels, cards, cartons, etc.), and to provide quality assurance support to the packaging department.
  • Product Inspection and Release.
  • Conduct product inspection to ensure: Verification of lot number and expiration date applied to components, Verification of correct version of components, Verification of approval of release by USDA, CVB-IC, and Verification of inventory.
  • Perform system transactions in LIMs and Oracle for the final release of product.
  • Apply hold/release/reject stickers to product in inventory.
  • Packaging Component Inspection, Release, and Management.
  • Inspect and release controlled labeling, including flat-cut, folding carton, and pressure-sensitive labeling in accordance with 9CFR 112.5(g) and applicable Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Manage inventory of controlled components to ensure appropriate, controlled storage, and accurate accounting is maintained at all times in accordance with applicable procedures.
  • Issue components to the Packaging floor in accordance with a daily schedule and applicable procedures.
  • Return unused components to inventory as appropriate and maintain an accurate accounting of consumption for each component in accordance with procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with 9CFR 112.1 through strict adherences to applicable Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Manage the label depletion process in a timely manner to ensure only current, approved labels are available for use.
  • Maintain an Inspection-ready label cage, in accordance with VSM 800.91, section J. “Labels".
  • Perform status changes – including release and rejection – in Oracle to disposition lots of incoming components.
  • Maintain the component receipt / release / reject KPI.
  • Quality Assurance Support to Packaging.
  • Conduct line clearance per procedure.
  • Complete routine self-inspections of the Packaging floor to ensure compliance with applicable procedures.
  • Review manufacturing records and data capture forms to ensure compliance with applicable procedures and good documentation practices.
  • Provide input on documentation revisions as necessary to ensure up to date/accurate procedures.

  • High School Diploma or Associate’s Degree.
  • 5+ years’ experience related to product or raw material / component inspection required.
  • Required skills in: Accounting, Inspection, Inventory, Oracle, and Packaging.
  • Computer skills preferred.
