Manager of Clinical Operations

SUMMARY:

This is a clinical management position responsible for the direction of clinical staff and activities at one or more North Atlanta Primary Care (NAPC) locations.

  • Responsible for directing, organizing and supervising the work of the clinical staff while coordinating clinical efforts to ensure that effective patient care is being provided and that quality measure are being met
  • Manages the day to day activities of clinical staff, patients, students and providers to assure a smooth efficient flow through the clinical areas
  • Analyzes patient flow problems and assists in instituting corrective action
  • Review providers schedules to ensure that patients are seen in a timely manner and intervene to make any necessary adjustments to ensure patient’s experience is positive and that his/her needs are met
  • Interview candidates for vacant positions and schedule qualified candidates for subsequent interview with Clinical Director
  • Performs reference checks on potential new hires
  • Train or ensure that clinical staff is properly trained for respective position
  • Ensure certifications, registries and licenses of clinical staff remain current and up-to-date
  • Monitors clinical staff performance in compliance with established timeframes per NAPC policies and procedures
  • Monitors and ensures that clinical staff documentation in EHR is complete
  • Perform audits of clinical staff documentation to ensure compliance of quality initiatives (such as Meaningful Use, HEDIS, etc) and provide appropriate feedback and any additional education needed if deficits are identified
  • Perform annual competencies of clinical staff and develop individual plan for any clinical staff unable to successfully prove competency of one of more clinical functions
  • Complete quarterly and annual performance evaluations of clinical staff
  • Continually mentor and contribute to professional development of all clinical staff
  • Responsible for ensuring that clinical staff is adhering to all NAPC policies and guidelines and corrective actions when policies and procedures are not being met by staff member
  • Provide leadership and guidance to all clinical staff in his/her direct report
  • Address and personal and/or professional issues to promote a productive and supportive work environment
  • Ensures clinical staff compliance of infection control and universal precautions
  • Responsible for investigating any incident occurring to or with a patient and for proper completion and submission of the NAPC Incident Report.  Also, ensures that proper testing is performed on patient and or clinical staff member per policy along with the necessary follow up
  • Oversees and controls medications, vaccines and clinical inventory
  • Develops and maintains clinical inventory PAR levels.  Adjusts PAR levels if needed based on changes in number of providers, patient volumes, seasonal needs, etc.
  • Monitors stock for expiration dates
  • Monitors all clinical logs (refrigerator temps, freezer, autoclave spore testing, etc .) for accuracy and completion
  • Ensures Emergency Preparedness of clinical staff in the event of weather disasters, electrical outages, etc. (ie:  Emergency phone lists for clinical staff, security of refrigerated medications, etc.)
  • Responsible for completion of site specific Monthly Clinical Reports (ie:  Inventory Report, Call Volumes, etc.)
  • Responsible for coordination of site specific educational sessions such as Diabetic Classes for patients, Lunch and Learn sessions for staff, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Drug screen and background check required.

  • Education/Training Level
    • Graduate of an accredited school or college of nursing
    • Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Georgia
    • At least 5 years nursing experience with one or more years in a supervisory or management position
    • Preferred knowledge of primary care, immunizations, growth and development, cultural diversity and performance improvement
  • Licenses and Certifications:
    • State of Georgia Licensed Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Communication Skills:
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Specialized Competencies
    • CPR certification

 

  • Technology Skills
    • Strong understanding of Electronic Health Records
