Direct hire opportunities in Knoxville, Tennessee.

 

Seeking Substation Physical Designers and Engineers with proven expertise in physical substation design including lightning protection, conduit layouts, grounding designs, plot plans, CDEGS, plan and sections, etc.

 

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- develop general arrangements for Substations including equipment plans, elevations, sections, control house layouts, grounding design, conduit and cable design

- create and/or check substation designs in AutoCAD

- create and/or check bills of materials and cable schedules utilizing Microsoft Office software tools

- create and/or check Plan and Section views

- utilize MicroStation (preferred) or AutoCAD software for designs

- create and/or check grounding drawings

- create and/or check conduit and cable schedules

- function efficiently in a team setting

- travel occasionally for site visits or meetings at client locations

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

- minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a similarly relevant field of study from an ABET-accredited institution

- minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience (7-10 years preferred)

- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure for engineering position(s)

- experience with voltages from 15kV to 500kV

- proven experience with physical substation design including:

1) grounding designs

2) wiring designs

3) power system relays

4) control circuits

5) CDEGS (Current Distribution, Electromagnetic interference, Grounding and Soils structure analysis)

6) plot plans

7) plan & sections

8) conduit layouts

9) lightning protection
