Job Description

Director of Marketing and Advertising

Position Profile:

Ultimate Nutrition is one of the innovative, oldest, and most respected nutritional supplement companies in the industry. The Marketing Director will lead their direct reports for Marketing and Advertising and influence cross-functional teams that include Research and Development, Sales, Purchasing, and Manufacturing in order to achieve the maximum ROI of a multi-million-dollar advertising and marketing budget, allowing the company to gain market share in the sports nutrition and nutritional supplements industry. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, while establishing a clear direction of how strategies and tactics work in the marketplace.


Oversee and evaluate return on investment (ROI) on all trade shows, athletic sponsorships, company websites, label/packaging design, digital, TV/Radio, and print advertising. This includes managing a budget. Must establish and meet/exceed performance metrics.

Develop and hire a staff to create and maintain all aspects of marketing and advertising, including but not limited to content, coding, photography, videography, social media, apps, creative design, script writing, label and packaging design, copyrighting, web design, etc.

Determine all possible ways to increase the effectiveness and followers of all our social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Google+, VK (Russia), Renren (China), and Pinterest. Evaluation of new social media platforms, as necessary.

Streamline company-wide communication and launch timing; working cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful product launches.

Determine all possible ways to increase the traffic and increase the amount of time each user stays on the company website including changes in appearance, coding, SEO, updates, and technological innovations. Potentially create new websites with the same metrics for other purposes.

Ability to be aware and can evaluate all new marketing/advertising opportunities and technologies.

Plan every aspect of trade shows including but not limited to the booth design, 3rd party contractors, concept, products and promotion items sent, athletes, staffing, etc.

Evaluate all opportunities for internet advertising outside of social media including but not limited to search engine optimization, banner ads, commercials, e-mail lists, etc. and continuously measure the ROI on all opportunities.

Negotiate and execute all agreements pertaining to trade shows, athletic sponsorships, website optimization, applications and internet/print advertising, and holding people responsible for such agreements.

Influence present and future products and programs by determining and evaluating current and future market trends.

Work with sales representatives to do promotions in their territories and produce materials in foreign languages.

Can motivate and inspire to gain alignment and commitment from direct reports and key stake holders.

Lay-out work in a well-planned and organized manner with clear communication.

Continually evaluate and improve existing product power and concept power to maximize business potential.

Develop strong, competitive products based on the brand strategy and consumer insights, as well as industry trends and availability of active ingredients.

Delivery key account presentations and sales support to build distribution with relevant market data and consumer insights.

Maintain extensive knowledge of market trends and competitive activity including pricing, promotion, products, and placement.

Assist with all regulatory and compliance requirements for all products.

Job Requirements


Bachelors or Master’s degree in a relevant field of study, with 8 or more years of relevant experience

At least 4 years of prior management experience

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and especially, Adobe suite of programs which includes InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, Musa, Dreamweaver, Animate, Premiere, After Effects, Audition and InCopy.

Must be able to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects, and have a strong attention for detail

Proven track record of planning, monitoring and delivering tactical marketing activities with a strong focus on ROIs

Self-motivated, high capacity individual who can function and win in a demanding, performance-driven environment. Able to evolve as needed and to evolve staff accordingly with effective management skills and hiring/firing responsibilities.

High energy, creative and positive attitude

Effectively copes with change and can comfortably handle risk and uncertainty

Ability to travel frequently and when needed

Excellent communication skills articulated in both written and oral fashion

Exceptional knowledge base of digital and social marketing tactics

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Strong ability to meet all deadlines

Ability to work until the job is done including working early, working late, or working weekends, as needed
