Job Overview:

If you are interested in becoming a CNA, Brothers of Mercy is has an exciting opportunity for you! The CNA Nurse Training Program is a 3 1/2 week paid training, on-site at Brothers of Mercy in Clarence, NY. Upon completion of the training and successful completion of the NYS CNA exam, you will be offered a CNA position.

 

Nurse Aide Trainees must have perfect attendance during the 18-day training. Hours for the class are Monday - Friday between 6:30 am to 3 pm. After hire as a CNA, weekend rotation is 2-weekends on (both Saturday and Sunday) and 1-weekend off for the first 3 months.

Please note that Brothers of Mercy is not bus line accessible – reliable transportation to Clarence is needed.

Job Requirements

Job Description:

CNA will perform duties related to resident care consistent with health care principles and facility policies:

  • Promotes resident hygiene and comfort.

  • Distributes food/water and feeds residents.

  • Assists with repositioning and transferring residents.

  • Ambulates and transports residents.

  • Collects, measures, records; urine, stool and sputum specimens as directed.

  • Records and totals fluid intake and output.

  • Empties drainage containers and records amount.

  • Weighs residents.

  • Applies elastic stockings and restraints.

  • Documents on flow sheets.

  • Assists with admission, discharge and postmortem care.

  • Responds to call lights in a timely manner.

  • Performs perineal care and uncomplicated colostomy care.

  • Reports all observations and assessments to the Team Leader, Nurse Manager orCharge Nurse.

  • Takes and records vital signs.

  • Makes beds and keeps resident’s units clean and in order.

  • Prepares room for housekeeping after resident discharge.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be 18 years of age
