We are seeking a Senior General Ledger Accountant in our Minneapolis office.  As a key member of our Finance team, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of various tax returns, reconciling general ledger tax accounts and payments, fixed asset and depreciation maintenance, along with other assorted departmental functions.  Do you have a strong understanding of accounting and tax principles?  Are you detail-oriented and love working independently and as part of a team?  If so, then we would love to hear from you.   

In this role, you will:


·         Assist in the preparation and coordination of schedules and work papers for federal and state tax returns.

·         Assist in research of federal and state tax issues.

·         Prepare personal property tax reports for the jurisdictions in which Dorsey has an office.

·         Prepare monthly and quarterly state tax returns.

·         Reconcile various general ledger tax accounts and payments while researching issues as necessary.

·         Assist with the budgeting and forecasting of various general ledger accounts.

·         Responsible for the maintenance of fixed assets database and monthly depreciation calculations.

·         Assist in the analysis of monthly budget variances as necessary.

·         Responsible for preparation of all regional and foreign bank reconciliations.

·         Record foreign office expenses and maintain backup files.

·         Assist with the setup of exception billing rates and recalculation of time entered as necessary

·         Research and respond to billing rate inquiries.

·         Review and approve bank wire transfers.

·         Prepare special reports, analysis, and projects as requested.

·         May perform other duties as requested. 

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics.
  • Strong understanding of accounting, tax, and business principles.
  • Detail-oriented with strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, effectively and accurately under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and client service skills.
  • Proficient in the use of a PC, including use of Microsoft Excel and Word.


  • Extensive exposure to large client/server environment financial systems such as Elite Enterprise.
  • Partnership experience.
  • Experience with audit and tax procedures.
