When we opened our first facility in Richmond, Virginia, in 1981, our vision was to make access to quality medical care as convenient and cost-effective as possible for the patient. To make the vision a reality, we adopted many innovative operating systems and practices that were practically unheard of at the time and which are continued today:

All Patient First centers are open each and every day of the year - including weekends and holidays. Patients often need immediate medical attention on days when many other facilities are closed.

The centers are open from 8 am to 10 pm so patients can come at times that best fit their schedules.

No appointments are necessary. You can walk right in to a Patient First and receive prompt attention upon arrival. If you prefer, however, you can call ahead to see when a particular physician will be available.

X-rays, lab tests, and most prescriptions are available on site to save time and reduce the need for extra trips.

These innovations, along with our commitment to an excellent medical staff and quality of care, have met with wide acceptance, allowing Patient First to expand considerably over the years. Patient First now offers both primary and urgent care services and participates in most insurance and managed care plans. There are currently fourteen Patient First centers operating in Virginia - eight in Richmond and six in the Tidewater, Virginia, areas. A recent expansion in Baltimore brings the total number of facilities serving this metropolitan area up to five.
