Senior Specialist, Fixed Assets & Inventory Accounting
United States - Manassas, Virginia

Your Job

As the Senior Specialist, Fixed Assets and Inventory Accounting, you will be responsible for all aspects of fixed assets and inventory accounting for the SES group with a specific initial focus on the Networks / O3b operation in Manassas which currently has the highest volume of transactions.

Your Responsibilities

  • Maintain records in SAP for fixed assets and inventory for all SES group companies ensuring that, for each company, the relevant balance sheet positions are reconciled to individual line item analyses.
  • Support the group’s Accounting Operations team in the monthly closing process through the timely and complete provision of information of fixed asset and inventory positions.
  • Address internal and external audit queries as required, promptly addressing any control issues raised.
  • Ensure legal entity and tax consolidation integrity is maintained and ensure that analyses required by the tax team to meet regulatory filing obligations are provided complete and on time.
  • Evaluate, improve and maintain processes for fixed asset and inventory management.
  • Document and train fixed asset and inventory procedures (for example depreciation policies, obsolescence reviews), ensuring that they are understood and consistently applied across the group.
  • Coordinate physical inventories with local site managers and Internal Audit
  • Produce error-free, timely accounting reports and presenting their results in accordance with our established schedule
  • Preparing and entering bank deposits, checks, debit charges, transfers, etc.
  • Analyze financial information and summarizing financial status
  • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
  • Serve as in-person Finance liaison with technical team in Manassas
  • Supervise one member of staff

Your Profile

  • 5+ years in accounting, with a focus in fixed assets and/or inventory management
  • Experience in fixed assets and/or inventory management modules of SAP
  • Previous managerial experience desired
  • Bachelor in Accounting
  • CPA preferred

Other Key Requirements/Comments 

  • Interfaces with accounting departments around the globe, as well as supply chain team and various members of the engineering department
  • New position, so immediate focus on documenting and improving existing processes
