Founded in 1975, Eden began as a small, family-oriented school for individuals with autism and today offers classes from pre-K through age 21. In addition, Eden provides services for adults with autism including residential and employment programs, as well as providing clinical and training support for families and professionals.



We have an exciting career opportunity for a Behavior Specialist – Residential Services who will provide clinical leadership for Adult Services within the Residential program including participants, their families/guardians, and staff; ensure compliance with state agency regulations and fidelity to Eden best practice standards; and train and mentor clinical and program staff. In addition, the Behavior Specialist will be required to spend time within the residential program during residential program hours. Primary Responsibilities

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. 

Clinical Leadership

  • In conjunction with the Assistant Director of Clinical Services, create habilitation environments that are supportive of participant needs and the use of evidence based practices for intervention purposes.
  • Ensure familiarity with participant intervention plans; serve as a role model for clinical intervention provision that emphasizes positive practices and limits the use of restraint.
  • Provide professional development, coaches, and provides timely performance feedback to program staff.
  • Work as a collaborative team member; motivate and inspire confidence in program staff and clinical colleagues. 
  • Maintain high levels of competency and expertise; consistently strive for excellence; serve as role model to all staff for continuing skill development.
  • Establish an expectation of clinical accountability, transparency, integrity, and effectiveness for all staff and families.
  • Maintain high visibility in intervention settings; seek out and engages all pertinent stakeholders to obtain consensus.
  • Apply workable, useful, and reliable data collection approaches and ensures they function as described.
  • Provide effective staff training; acknowledge and address all staff questions or concerns regarding any aspect of any clinical recommendation or initiative or, if unable to answer a staff question, brings the question to a clinical supervisor.  
  • Provide compassionate care, accord others with dignity, and take accountability for responsibilities as assigned.
  • Prepare documents and analyze data for presentation to the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT), Behavior Management Committee (BMC), and Human Rights Committee (HRC) as needed.

 Behavior Support Plan Development

  • Assist with the completion of Functional Behavior Assessments, including Descriptive Analyses, Functional Analyses, Skills Assessments, and Preference Assessments to ensure effective and accountable behavior plans are developed and implemented.
  • In conjunction with program staff, assist in the development and updating of Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) including baselines, participant history, medication review, and literature review.


  • Coordinate and conduct trainings for Adult Services – Residential staff.
  • Complete all training paperwork and submit monthly reports to manager.

Communication and Meetings

·         Attend Residential monthly staff meetings

  • Assist in preparing agendas for IDT and Behavior Management Committee meetings, if needed.
  • Assist in maintaining Incident Report database.
  • Assist in presenting at the Human Rights Committee meetings and generating and disseminating agendas and minutes if needed
  • Assist with annual assessment meetings with program staff. 

Physical Requirements:

·         Ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time during the work day, including bending, squatting, kneeling, stretching and stooping; and reaching above shoulder level.

  • Vision requirements including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

·         Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

·         Ability to utilize and maintain physical restraints with participants as needed.

  • Mobility to ensure the safety of participants at all times.
  • Must pass and maintain certification within Professional Crisis Management (PCM).

Education:            Bachelor’s degree in related field (Masters preferred). 

Experience:          Minimum two years of experience working with developmentally disabled individuals



·         Valid driver’s license with record in good standing (less than five (5) points).

·         Board Certification as a Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) preferred. 


Specialized Skills and Knowledge

  • Sound working knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis.
  • Willingness and ability to grow in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of behavior observation systems and data analysis.
  • Ability to implement physical techniques including personal control, crisis, and restrictive procedures as trained; may be required to provide physical assistance and/or prompting to an individual.
  • Commitment to helping individuals with autism and their families.
  • Demonstrated ability to ensure organizational compliance with contractual and regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality by adhering to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills with the ability to make recommendations for effective and efficient solutions with supervisor support. 
  • Good communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and professionalism.
  • Deadline-driven and results-focused.
  • Ability to multi-task; well organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with individuals and groups, both internally and externally to achieve desired results.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to travel locally among the Day Centers, residences, and Eden School (10-20%).
  • Flexibility to work weekends when needed.
