Position Description

The Payroll Coordinator reports directly to the Financial Manager. This position is responsible for bi-weekly processing of payroll and associated filing with the state of South Carolina. The position holds responsibility for reporting to corporate and government agencies in a timely manner while ensuring compliance with government regulations. This role also includes general accounting duties, year-end processing and reporting. The successful candidate must maintain confidentiality and integrity of accounting and payroll data while maintaining up-to-date filing systems that comply with Good Accounting Practices.

Core Position Job Functions

  • Collect, verify and input all employee payroll data for bi-weekly processing

  • Preview payroll data for accuracy and meet transmission deadlines

  • Audit timesheets for errors, advise appropriate manager when documentation is missing, policies are not followed, corrections are required

  • Research and resolve payroll related issues

  • Manage all payroll, garnishment and benefits deductions for correct start and stop times

  • Maintain all Payroll Bring up Activities

  • Advise management regarding payroll abnormalities

  • Processes manual check requests and Special Payrolls as required

  • Manage distribution or payroll checks to meet payroll and company policies

  • Audit ADP disbursement activities

  • Reconcile all payroll related accounts

  • Generate payroll related reports on demand

  • Perform wage verifications as requested

  • Maintain paid time off database and audits

  • Remain current on accounting and payroll laws, regulations and best practices to ensure compliance in area of control

  • Advises manager regarding required ASP training to stay updated on platform upgrades

  • Support external accounting and payroll audits

  • Initiate all calendar and FY end activities

  • Work with HRM to determine setup and changes to ADP schedules and security levels

Job Requirements

Educational or Other Requirements

  • Highschool Diploma or Equivalent

  • ADP WorkforceNow and ADP Custom Reporting Experience

  • Excellent attendance and reliability

  • Works successfully in team setting with good communication and collaboration skills

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Software

  • Must be able to schedule all time off around payroll processing

  • Ability to pass a background check and credit check as required by client’s criteria for an accounting position

Preferred

  • Related experience in a manufacturing setting

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or Related Field

  • Payroll Certification
