Great opportunity at El Paso Area Teachers Federal Credit Union (TFCU) is searching for a Vice President of Consumer Lending (VPCL). This role is the role that will enable you to spread your wings and run a very well run financial institution. The VPCL is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the credit union’s consumer lending services, directs and coordinates activities of employees engaged in consumer lending, indirect lending, collections, records retention, and member insurance functions to ensure optimal performance. The VPCL guarantees compliance in the consumer lending operation with established policies, procedures, and legal requirements. The VPCL provides appropriate profit for the credit union, and a minimal delinquency and charge-off ratio. The VPCL supervises and appraises the activities of subordinate managers and ensures that all lending services are professionally delivered, and members are well served.

The VPCL is responsible for developing and implementing effective lending plans, effective administration of lending functions, and adequate performance of lending-related services. The VPCL must also efficiently supervise personnel, ensure optimal performance, ensure professional business relationships are established and maintained with members, vendors, the business community, and trade organizations.

Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in business or a related field and at least 8 years of experience in the credit process and at least 5 years of experience in a supervisory capacity within a financial institution. Candidates must have a thorough understanding of consumer lending regulations and a complete understanding of the collection process and federal and state regulations. Top candidates will have detailed knowledge of credit union loan products and applicable policies and standards and an understanding of government regulations and legal requirements involving lending, collections, insurance, and related functions. Candidates must be influential leaders and demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities.
