Job Description Position Overview:
My client is seeking a (Mechanical) Automation Project Engineer
to be responsible for the design and development of new High-Speed Custom
Automation. In this role you will lead
the machine development process and guide the activities of tooling design
engineers. You will oversee machine lifecycle including quoting, mechanical
design, and delivery schedule..
•Design new cable
manufacturing machinery (using Siemens NX). Provide assembly feasibility
(Design for Manufacturability) and equipment cost estimates to the new product
•Work with engineering department to determine design
completion dates. Prioritize work and
delegate work assignments to design engineers.
•Assist in developing and executing the machine qualification
•Provide technical support for launch of equipment produced
by the Little Rock Automation Team. Travel to mass production facilities for
machine install & qualification, training of technicians and operators to
ensure the proper and safe equipment operation and to develop re-tooling
•Attend Design Reviews and PFMEAs while working with design
engineers to improve current and future designs of automation.
•Track projects using internal methods for summarizing
component cost, labor, and lead time. Develop accurate, up-to-date BOMs and
Spare Tooling Lists.
•Bachelors’ Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Manufacturing
Engineering (or Engineering Technology) or
8+ years of automation design experience in lieu of an engineering
•3+ years’ Mechanical Design Experience.
•2+ years of 3D mechanical design and drafting experience
•2+ years’ experience designing machinery for automated manufacturing and assembly
•1+ years’ Project Management experience.
•Bachelor’s Degree in
Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
•Proficiency in Siemens NX
•Knowledge of Machine Building techniques and standards.
•Scheduling and budgeting experience.
•Design experience in the electronics industry.
Skills and Abilities:
•Expertise in the
design and documentation of complex assemblies in CAD. Mechanical Cam Linkage
analysis experience preferred.
•Understanding of GD&T and knowledge of where to perform
tolerance analysis. Prefer knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
•Project management skills that demonstrate the ability to
set goals and priorities to complete projects in a systematic and timely
•Strong Mechanical Aptitude. Prefer toolmaking Knowledge
(understanding of manual and CNC machining capabilities) and knowledge of
Machine Wiring & Industrial Electrical Logic.
•Ability to work with many worldwide cultures in a positive
Mandarin or Spanish, a plus!
•Available to travel internationally (20%).
