To provide strategic leadership in the area of liability claims management including partnering with and guiding operations and business development to create a clear vision and strategy to position company as recognized national leader. To identify opportunities to grow the liability product line by partnering with outside vendors to build a best in class offering. To serve as a thought leader and subject matter expert for the organization, prospects and industry.

Essential Tasks/Major Duties

  • Identifies emerging risk issues and liability practice opportunities.
  • Participates in the development of policies and procedures to drive compliance to best practices, claims management service standards, state regulations, and client service requirements.
  • Develops best practices for our liability operations teams and ensures continual evolvement of those best practices with analysis of outcomes and results.
  • Identifies best in class technology and programs for claims professionals to ensure best possible outcomes.
  • Stays current on state regulations, case law and issues as well as industry activities and trends
  • Develops and leads the implementation of strategies and tactics designed to grow existing liability programs and markets.
  • Represents Sedgwick in the national insurance and risk management community through membership, active participation, attendance and presenting at conferences.
  • Facilitates the reduction of process barriers, technology and resource constraints through innovation and by influencing the activities of other internal departments such as information technology, operations, compliance and business development.
  • Finalizes special service standards and requirements of the customer as communicated during the sales presentation, and facilitates the documentation and implementation among other Sedgwick departments.
  • Collaborates closely with claims professionals and counsel to ensure cost-effective and appropriate litigation management strategies are in place that will lead to best overall outcome.
  • Drives for increased line of business sales through involvement in the sales and marketing process, presentations, creation and design of marketing materials and knowledge of regional claim expertise and resources.
  • Administers company personnel policies in all areas and follows company staffing standards and training recommendations.
  • Interviews, hires and establishes colleague performance development plans; conducts colleague performance discussions.
  • Provides support, guidance, leadership and motivation to promote maximum performance.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Legal degree and/or designation in insurance-related field preferred.
  • 10 years of claims management and/or legal claims management experience
  • 6 years or more experience in a liability line of business or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • 4 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Litigated Claims experience in liability programs
  • Experience with multiple lines (Rx, Medical Malpractice, Product Liability, General Liability, etc.)
