Lead/implement operations department initiatives and programs to improve chemical processes/equipment.
Participate in HAZOPS as production area technical representative and evaluate Hazop action item recommendations, determine optimal solution, and implement required changes.
To improve efficiency and safety, participate in production team to generate and evaluate process changes.
Manage and implement process changes including mechanical installation, development of operating procedures, training, and process safety documentation.
Investigate and resolve quality non-conformance issues as required.
Investigate safety/environmental incidents as required and implement corrective actions.
Directly supervise contract engineers and construction contractors or indirectly supervise operators and mechanics.
Maintain safe mindset by using experience to train others on potential hazards and ensure efficient work.
Contribute to operational improvement and safety improvement by monitoring activities at the site and submitting ideas for projects, process improvements, and safety improvements. Takes initiative to coordinate and implement these improvements.
Serve as the manufacturing representative for capital projects.
Work within the company documented business management system, policies, procedures such as ISO, SOCMA, PSM.
Manage production plan for designated area(s) in conjunction with inventory management and other factors such as ability of resources and maintenance activities.
Work with operations manager for developing overall production and capital goals. Function independently, schedules own actions, deals independently with contractors and other departments.
The work environment may include some time critical issues driven by market demand and/or process upsets.
Degree in technical field (engineering, sciences).
Experience in training and guiding chemical operators with regards to implementing process changes and maintenance mechanics with regards to installing mechanical changes to process systems.
Knowledge of Process Safety Management requirements, Management of Change, Hazop.
Chemical engineering principles including liquid/vapor equilibrium, reaction kinetics, process control systems.
Solid basic computer experience (Word, Excel).
