This position is a remote position but will be required to come to the hospital several times a month for meetings.
Eligible for a $5,000/2 year retention bonus. Must have inpatient and outpatient experience.
SUMMARY: Provide coding education and training and leadership to the coding and HIM staff. Provide all coding training for any new coding staff. Ensure optimal performance of the coding area. Serve as a coding resource for ICD9-CM, CPT, ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS; and all visit types to include inpatient, outpatient, and emergency. Coordinates activities for new coding initiatives. Audits records for coding accuracy and compliance. Serve as the HIM data liaison for internal and external reporting. Performs problem resolution. Provide reporting via HIM systems. Establish and maintain effective communication with the medical staff. May supervise coding staff in the absence of the HIM Manager or Director.
Required Experience: Minimum four (4) years recent coding experience in an acute care hospital; coding audit experience; experience analyzing reports; experience training others; experience developing training materials
Required Licensure/Certification/Registration: RHIT (Registered Health Information Technologist); RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator); CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)
Preferred Education/Training: ICD-10 Train the Trainer
