ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Initiate Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s) to ensure work instructions are up to date and reflect MSC’s processes are in line with product requirements by means of an online process audit procedure

Comply with IATF 16949 standards

Application of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools, such as Quality Function Development (QFD), and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) from the initial design concept to the manufacturing and monitoring of the finished product

Work with internal and external suppliers to ensure materials, components and assemblies meet the design and quality requirements

Develop, implement, and maintain the systems used to measure, monitor and control product and process quality in the production process

Determine and manage monthly internal rejection valuation and claims reserve requirements and submit information to accounting. Responsible for the timely disposition of all non-conforming materials either by claim or internal rejections

Discover and understand the process issues and develop effective countermeasures including process or product changes

 

 

·         .

Contribute to an environment of preventing non-conforming product/scrap by conducting data analyses and statistical assessments so that the company gains insight into what causes not only special-cause events, but also common-cause capability issues for the purpose of reducing waste, defects, and scrap

Understand MSC’s quality system, product and process control, continuous improvement and continuous improvement techniques, quality control tools, quality management planning tools.

Responsible for auditing the company’s quality standards

Maintain communication with necessary departments when trends in complaints become discernable

Ability to apply the best practices in quality management to provide the facilitation needed for implementation of effective root cause and preventative actions


 


NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provide required weekly/monthly reports and presentations to the Plant Manager and staff

Technical Service assistance/availability to production and sales as needed

Coordinate automated and manual quality assurance tasks



·          

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Engineering, or related discipline

 

 

·          

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the technical or operations phase of the coil coating and/or industrial coatings industry

 

 

·          

Thorough understanding with working knowledge of quality principles, product, process evaluation, and control including the relationship to Purchasing, Customer Service, Inventory Control, Quality Control, Shipping and Receiving, New Business and Product Development, and Marketing functions

 

 

·         .

Quality improvement process champion and improvement management

 

 

·          

Excellent organizational and communication skills. Strong ability to plan, coordinate, and manage programs under his/her jurisdiction

 

 

·          

Strong team leadership and management skills, ideally with HFI process as well as Quality employee training instructor

 

 

·          

Ability to travel as necessary


 


Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:


 


  • Must be able to distinguish and identify different colors

  • May be exposed to wide variations in temperature

  • Frequent exposure to paint and solvent fumes, “all within OSHA limits”

  • Required to wear proper PPE equipment and other as assigned to areas
