Senior Accountant

RSR North America has an excellent opportunity available for a Senior Accountant. This position manages monthly accounting and reporting for company’s fixed assets, including construction in progress, directly purchased assets, assets under capital leases, and asset physical counts.  Additionally, the Senior Accountant supports monthly and year-end financial closing processes for fixed assets and general accounting, including journal entry, account reconciliation, and preparation of information for external audit. The position will be based at the corporate office in Dallas, TX, and will report to the Accounting Manager.


 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Account for company fixed assets at multiple locations, including tracking of capital projects and coordination with project managers, approval of directly purchased assets with assessment of capital/expense determination, and monitoring adherence to capital expenditure policies.

  • Account for assets under capital lease, including evaluation of proper classification in accordance with lease accounting standards.

  • Review asset purchases and repairs/maintenance expenditures for proper accounting classification.

  • Complete month-end closing activities, including system closing and settlement of capital projects, asset additions/retirements, posting of depreciation expense, and completion of fixed asset roll-forward schedules

  • Support monthly closing process for general accounting, including journal entries and account reconciliation.

  • Complete year-end financial closing activities, including preparation of information for external auditors and interaction with auditors for areas of responsibility.

  • Manage/coordinate weekly and annual fixed asset physical counts with plant locations, including documentation, reporting, and retirement tracking and approval.

  • Manage quarterly review of goods received/not invoiced liabilities, including research and coordination with internal purchasing and accounts payable associates as well as external vendors.

  • Complete other accounting projects and tasks as assigned.



  • Bachelor degree in Accounting. (CPA or CPA candidate preferred)

  • 4-6 years of accounting experience in a multi-location environment, with heavy manufacturing industry preferred.

  • Experience with accounting for fixed assets, including capital project tracking, direct purchases, and assets under capital lease.

  • Experience with monthly and year-end financial closing processes, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and preparation of internal and external audit documentation.

  • Intermediate-level Microsoft Excel user required.  SAP or large ERP system experience preferred. 

  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.
