POSITION SUMMARY: This position provides assistance to physicians, RNs, members of the interdisciplinary team in a medical assistant capacity. Under the supervision of an RN, performs assigned clinical tasks to pediatric patients with orthopedic, burn, reconstructive plastic and rehabilitation conditions.
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of:
· Medical terminology.
· Microsoft office including, word, excel, outlook, etc.
Ability to:
· Demonstrate effective written and oral communication and verbal skills to effectively communicate with patients, visitors, and staff.
· Demonstrate Organizational skills
· Work quickly and accurately under pressure.
· Organize high volume workload.
· Accurately prioritize workload.
· Work with diverse personnel, both faculty and staff.
Education:
High school Diploma or GED certification required.
Completion of a Medical Assistant training program required.
Experience:
Pediatric, orthopedic, burn, or rehabilitation medical assistant experience preferred.
Ability to take and document vital signs (in metric) and follow simple instructions from Providers and licensed nurses.
Developmental stages infant through adolescent
Standard precautions of infection control
Carry out specific oral and written assignments
Communicate effectively in oral and written form
Interact effectively and sensitively with children of different age levels and cultural backgrounds and with their families
Adapt to a changing patient care environment.
Participate in US Based outreach clinics as necessary and as assigned
Ability to perform other duties as assigned
Current (CCMA) California Certifying board of Medical Assistants
Current BLS certification required.
Language Skills:
Bilingual in English/Spanish strongly preferred.
