Senior Grants Accountant – Immediate Washington DC Role

About the Company and Opportunity:

  • Our client is a Nonprofit helping our most vulnerable in our community.
  • Due to a staff vacancy, they are hiring a Senior Grants Accountant in their Washington DC location (Metro Accessible). Candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of grants experience. They want someone with an extensive background in grants, and possibly experience working in the DC government sector. Great Plains and strong Excel preferred.
  • This position starts in contract paying $32 - $35 an hour. For the right candidate this has the potential to become permanent with a salary of $75,000 - $80,000

Preferred Qualifications for the Senior Grants Accountant:

  • Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of grants experience
  • Extensive background in grants, and possibly experience working in the DC government sector
  • Great Plains and strong Excel preferred

Responsibilities of the Senior Grants Accountant:

  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts.
  • Handle month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital.
  • Prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position.
  • Audit contracts, orders, and vouchers, and prepare reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to monthly close process.
  • Establish, modify, document, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.
