Senior Grants Accountant – Immediate Washington DC Role
About the Company and Opportunity:
Our client is a Nonprofit helping our most vulnerable in our community.
Due to a staff vacancy, they are hiring a Senior Grants Accountant in their Washington DC location (Metro Accessible). Candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of grants experience. They want someone with an extensive background in grants, and possibly experience working in the DC government sector. Great Plains and strong Excel preferred.
This position starts in contract paying $32 - $35 an hour. For the right candidate this has the potential to become permanent with a salary of $75,000 - $80,000

Preferred Qualifications for the Senior Grants Accountant:
Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of grants experience
Extensive background in grants, and possibly experience working in the DC government sector
Great Plains and strong Excel preferred
Responsibilities of the Senior Grants Accountant:
Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts.
Handle month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing activities.
Analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital.
Prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position.
Audit contracts, orders, and vouchers, and prepare reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to monthly close process.
Establish, modify, document, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.
