Job Description

The Logistics Specialist is a full time multi-functional position responsible for the management of all railcar and truck movements, logistic equipment leases, offsite warehouses, USM owned magnesium scrap trailers and the oversight of all inventory levels.

Responsibilities

· Maintain and develop positive business relationships with a customer's key personnel involved in, or directly relevant to, a logistics activity.

· Develop an understanding of customers' needs and take actions to ensure that such needs are met.

· Develop proposals that include documentation for estimates.

· Review logistics performance with customers against targets, benchmarks, and service agreements.

· Direct availability and allocation of materials, supplies, and finished products.

· Redesign the movement of goods to maximize value and minimize costs.

· Collaborate with other departments as necessary to meet customer requirements, to take advantage of sales opportunities or, in the case of shortages, to minimize negative impacts on a business.

· Report project plans, progress, and results.

· Protect and control proprietary materials.

· Stay informed of logistics technology advances and apply appropriate technology to improve logistics processes.

· Direct and support the compilation and analysis of technical source data necessary for product.

Education/Experience

  • Previous rail and truck transportation experience; chemical experience a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics/materials management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products.
  • 2+ years working experience in industry preferred.

Qualifications

  • Maintains a current knowledge of rules, regulations and compliance issues effecting the operation.
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks while managing time effectively (able to plan, organize and implement around priorities).
  • Possesses an understanding of and commitment to US Magnesium’s Programs.
  • Ability to analyze situations and data and make sound decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral and excellent organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented and a self-starter.
  • Excellent people skills – good listener and communicator.
  • Responds well to high-pressure situations.
  • Has “Ownership” spirit and has the ability to take projects and actions from initial phase to completion.

  • Monday - Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm
